Professional Biography and Positions

Dr. Osama Badary currently serves as Vice Dean for Pharmaceutical Research at the British University in Egypt. Previously, he held the positions of Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research at the Faculty of Pharmacy, and President of the National Organization for Drug Control and Research (NODCAR) in Cairo.

He has contributed to leading several universities and research centers, in addition to representing Egypt in international committees and organizations, including the World Health Organization and the African Union.

Academic Qualifications

Dr. Badary began his academic journey with a Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Sciences from Cairo University in 1983, followed by a Diploma in Biochemical Analysis from Al-Azhar University in 1986. He earned his Master’s degree in Pharmacology and Toxicology from the same university in 1988, and in 1991, he completed a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences through a joint program between Al-Azhar University and the University of Georgia, USA.

- Co-founded the Regulatory Authorities Network for the Middle East and North Africa in collaboration with the U.S. Pharmacopoeia.

- Contributed to the development of new drugs, including thymoquinone, currently in clinical trials for the treatment of various diseases.

- Served as a technical expert for the African Union and NEPAD (2014–2018), contributing to the creation of the African Medicines Agency and the drafting of a unified law regulating drug registration and circulation across African countries in 2014.

- Participated in drafting key legislative projects, including the Medical Research and Clinical Trials Law and the Pharmacy Practice Law.

- Contributed to the national program to eliminate Hepatitis C as a member of the Supreme Committee for antiviral therapy.
