The Connect X team from the Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences wins second place in the Data Intelligence track at Intellishift Summit 2026

Students Ahmed Hazem Taha and Baher Sherif Galal, in the third year of the SC department at the Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences - Ain Shams University, achieved a remarkable accomplishment by winning second place in the Data Intelligence track as part of the Connect X team, during their participation in the Intellishift Summit 2026, hosted by the Faculty of Computers and Artificial Intelligence, Cairo University, with the participation of an elite group of student teams from various Egyptian universities, in a competition that focused on employing data analysis and artificial intelligence technologies to develop innovative solutions to support decision-making within institutions.

The participation was under the patronage of Prof. Rasha Mohamed Ismail, Dean of the Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences at Ain Shams University, and through the student activity Connect X, under the supervision of Dr. Dina Khattab, the activity's academic supervisor. Dr. Khattab was keen to support and encourage students to participate in competitions and technology hackathons, contributing to the development of their practical skills and bridging the gap between academic studies and the demands of the labor market.

During the competition, the team presented the O JAMB project, an intelligent platform for supporting decision-making based on Data Intelligence and Business Intelligence technologies. The solution begins by processing raw data through an ETL Pipeline, then organizing it within a coherent database, before transforming it into interactive dashboards and performance indicators that help decision-makers analyze performance and make more accurate and effective decisions.

The project also relied on employing Symbolic AI to build a rule-based decision engine that transforms data and analytics into actionable, practical recommendations. This helps organizations move from simply presenting data to delivering intelligent, knowledge-based, and explainable decisions. The judging panel commended the project for its integration of data engineering, artificial intelligence, and business applications.

This achievement underscores the outstanding academic and technical skills of the students at the Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences at Ain Shams University, and their ability to utilize cutting-edge technologies to provide practical and innovative solutions. This reinforces the faculty's role in supporting innovation and encouraging students to excel and compete in scientific and technological forums.
