Chaired by the Minister of Health and in the presence of the President of Ain Shams University and the Chairman of the General Authority for Healthcare, the Faculty of Business awards a professional doctorate in "Emergency Governance."

His Excellency Prof. Khaled Atef Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, chaired the committee discussing the professional doctoral dissertation in Business Administration (DBA) at the Faculty of Business, Ain Shams University, in an exceptional academic event held under the auspices and in the presence of His Excellency Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen, President of the University, and Prof. Farid Moharram El Garhy, Dean of the Faculty.

The event, held on Saturday, the 11th of this month, witnessed the discussion of the dissertation of researcher Helmy Ahmed Ahmed Abdel Rahman, entitled: "The Impact of Implementing Governance on Improving the Quality of Health Services Provided through the National Emergency Project."

The discussion was graced by the presence of a distinguished group of dignitaries, including His Excellency Prof. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority for Healthcare, and His Excellency Prof. Saleh El-Sheikh, former Head of the Central Agency for Organization and Administration, along with a select group of leading experts, academics, and specialists in medical and administrative affairs, which greatly enhanced the event.

The judging and discussion committee, chaired by His Excellency the Minister of Health, included Prof. Farid Moharram El-Garhy, Dean of the Faculty of Business, and Prof. Nagwa Ahmed El-Sisi, Assistant Professor in the Department of Accounting and Auditing at the Faculty.

         
   
         

The Minister of Health Commends the Thesis Topic

During his chairmanship of the discussion committee, His Excellency the Minister of Health and Population, Prof. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, commended the thesis topic and its close alignment with the state's vision for developing the healthcare system.

His Excellency emphasized that the political leadership places great importance on the emergency and critical care sector, noting that implementing governance principles is no longer optional but has become a fundamental pillar for ensuring the sustainability of service quality, optimizing resource allocation, and providing healthcare befitting the Egyptian citizen. He also praised the role of scientific research aimed at serving state institutions.

His Excellency thanked the researcher for the outstanding presentation and commended the significant effort invested in the thesis by both the researcher and the supervisory committee.

His Excellency commended the researcher's use of national initiatives and successful models, most notably the "Every Second a Life" initiative and the resulting "National Project for Care, Nurseries, and Emergencies."

The Minister emphasized that dealing with emergencies requires achieving the highest levels of speed and response to save lives. This is the fundamental principle that has guided this project since 2018, achieving significant progress in reducing waiting lists and improving the quality of life for patients in emergency situations.

His Excellency led a rich scientific discussion on the overall structure of the research, drawing on his medical background. He affirmed that the thesis content was substantial and deserved discussion to maximize its benefit.

In a gesture of both humanity and academic humility, the Minister expressed his immense pleasure at being present that day as a university professor, participating in discussions and supervising theses. He affirmed his enduring passion for further knowledge and research.

His Excellency Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, expressed his pride in the university hosting this distinguished academic event, praising the presence of such prominent national figures at the university.

He affirmed that Ain Shams University represents a leading platform for bridging the gap between academic thought and executive decision-makers, emphasizing the university's and its prestigious faculties' commitment to harnessing all their research capabilities to provide innovative solutions that support the comprehensive development witnessed by the Egyptian state across all sectors.

In his address, Prof. Farid Muharram Al-Jarhi, Dean of the Faculty of Business, expressed his deep pride and honor at the presence of His Excellency the Minister of Health and Population, emphasizing that his first visit to the Faculty of Business was a great honor and an exceptional event for the faculty.

He also extended a special welcome to His Excellency the University President, praising his continuous support and affirming that he "spares no effort in supporting and assisting the university's faculties, especially the Faculty of Business."

His welcome also extended to His Excellency Prof. Ahmed Al-Subki and His Excellency Prof. Saleh Al-Sheikh, considering the presence of these national figures to enrich the meeting and underscore the importance of scientific research in serving the nation's interests.

His Excellency affirmed that the Faculty of Business has taken it upon itself to direct the compass of scientific research and professional studies to serve major national projects, considering the initiative a unique model of integration between administrative and commercial sciences and the medical sector.

In a related context, Prof. Farid Muharram praised the insightful vision and the unprecedented, tireless efforts exerted by the political leadership to elevate the healthcare system in Egypt. He emphasized that the historic presidential initiatives we are witnessing today, foremost among them the "National Emergency Project," represent a qualitative leap and a true national epic for building an Egyptian citizen who enjoys sustainable and dignified healthcare. This reflects the unwavering will of the state to move towards a new republic that places the health of its citizens at the forefront of its priorities.

   
   

Governance and its Importance in All Aspects of Life

In the context of the academic evaluation, Prof. Najwa Ahmed Al-Sisi highlighted the importance of the thesis topic, emphasizing that "governance" has become a fundamental requirement in everything. She stated, "Governance has become an essential and indispensable requirement in all aspects of life, from managing family affairs to the largest institutions of society and the state, to ensure discipline and achieve the highest levels of efficiency."

She explained that the study addressed the concepts of health governance, leading the researcher to present practical and applicable recommendations that contribute to improving the quality of medical services provided to patients. She commended the researcher for addressing crucial points and demonstrating a high degree of professionalism in preparing his research.

At the conclusion of the event, and following the judging committee's commendation of the effort exerted and recommendation to award the researcher a professional doctorate in business administration (DBA), His Excellency Prof. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, received the "Faculty Shield" as a gift from His Excellency Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Farid Moharram El Garhy, Dean of the Faculty, in appreciation of his patronage and support of scientific research aimed at developing the healthcare system in Egypt. The presentation took place amidst an atmosphere of congratulations and celebration.
