Ain Shams University announces, as part of its commitment to supporting faculty staff and early-career researchers and encouraging academic excellence, the opening of nominations for the UNESCO/Juan Bosch Prize for the Promotion of Research in the Social Sciences in Latin America and the Caribbean for 2026, in accordance with the announcement of the Egyptian National Commission for UNESCO, under the patronage of Prof. Amany Osama Kamel, Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research.
The prize aims to honor the best doctoral thesis in the field of social sciences prepared by early-career researchers, which has made a tangible contribution to advancing social science research oriented towards social development policies in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Eligibility criteria:
- The candidate must not exceed 40 years of age at the time of application.
- The submitted dissertation or research work must be in the field of social sciences.
- The research must address topics related to Latin America and the Caribbean.
- Self-nominations are not accepted.
Nominations shall be submitted:
- Through the governments of UNESCO Member States, in consultation with their National Commissions; or
- Through non-governmental organizations maintaining official relations with UNESCO and active in the field of the prize.
Nomination files must be submitted in one of the following languages: English, French, or Spanish.
Deadline for submission to the National Commission: 1 February 2026
