Ain Shams University Invites Faculty Staff and Researchers to Participate in the 2025 Annual Research Award in African Studies
In line with its commitment to supporting scientific research and enhancing international academic engagement, Ain Shams University invites faculty members, researchers, and graduate students to participate in the 2025 Annual Research Award in African Studies. The award is organized by the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), in coordination with the Supreme Council of Universities, with the aim of promoting research excellence and strengthening the University’s academic presence at both the regional and international levels.
The award is administered through UNAM’s University Program of Studies on Asia, Africa, and Oceania (PUEAAO), and seeks to recognize outstanding academic research in African Studies conducted as part of an academic degree requirement.
The call is open to faculty members, their assistants, and researchers. UNAM welcomes submissions from holders of bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees awarded by UNAM or by other higher education institutions.
Eligibility Criteria:
The thesis must address issues related to African countries or regions from the perspective of the social sciences and humanities.
The thesis must be original and unpublished.
The thesis must have been successfully defended between January 2024 and July 2025.

Financial Awards:
Doctoral Dissertation Award: 45,000 Mexican Pesos
Master’s Thesis Award: 30,000 Mexican Pesos
Bachelor’s Thesis Award: 15,000 Mexican Pesos
In addition, certificates of recognition will be granted to distinguished non-winning theses, and the winning doctoral dissertation will be published as part of the PUEAAO University Studies Series.

Announcement of Results:
The competition results will be announced on 14 May 2026 via the PUEAAO official website.
