The Faculty of Arts Organizes a Blood Donation Campaign

The Faculty of Arts at Ain Shams University organized a medical blood donation campaign under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of the University; Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; and Prof. Hanan Kamel Metwally, Dean of the Faculty of Arts; with the supervision of Prof. Hanan Salem, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, and in coordination with Dr. Mohsen El-Alfy, Professor of Hematology at the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, and President of the “Shoryan Al-Ataa Association”.

The campaign witnessed a strong turnout, as students, faculty members, and administrative staff came together to participate in this noble humanitarian duty. They expressed their constant readiness to lend a helping hand and contribute to saving lives, affirming that a single drop of blood can make a tremendous difference in a person’s life.

In this regard, Prof. Hanan Kamel Metwally, Dean of the Faculty, emphasized that “blood donation represents one of the highest forms of human generosity — a duty dictated by our conscience toward our community. The faculty’s mission is not only to graduate academically distinguished students but also to nurture individuals who are empathetic and actively engaged in charitable initiatives that serve humanity.”

She added that the faculty’s message extends beyond classroom walls to reach the wider community, and this campaign stands as clear evidence of that commitment.

For her part, Prof. Hanan Salem, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, noted that the campaign reflects the sector’s vision to connect the faculty with real community issues, adding that today’s high participation demonstrates the faculty’s collective awareness of the value of giving.

Meanwhile, Dr. Mohsen El-Alfy, President of the “Shoryan Al-Ataa Association”, explained that the main goal of such initiatives is to promote a culture of voluntary and regular blood donation within the university community, ensuring an adequate supply of blood units for patients in need.
