In line with the Egyptian state's vision to support applied research in advanced scientific fields, particularly in the field of nanotechnology, the Board of Directors of the Nanotechnology Center at Ain Shams University held its regular meeting, chaired by Prof. Amany Osama Kamel, Vice President of the University for Postgraduate Studies and Research, with the participation of an elite group of board members.
The meeting was attended by Prof. Yasser Megahed, Director of the University’s Engineering Consulting Center; Prof. Mohamed Nabil Sabry, Vice Chairman of the Board; Prof. Mohamed Abdel-Hay Ahmed, Director of the Center; and board members Prof. Saad El-Sayed Hassan, Prof. Ashraf Bakry Abdo, Prof. Tamer Abdallah Sharaf, Prof. Bassam Saad, and Prof. Sahar Mohamed Omar.

During the meeting, the board reviewed the latest developments in the center’s operations and the final handover status. The project has been fully completed and delivered, with the necessary civil protection measures implemented to ensure the safety of the building.
Follow-up was conducted on the installation of laboratory sinks, the water network, and pressure testing, as well as the completion of the installation of the center’s official logo on the building’s façade and the modification of the external signage.
Prof. Amany Osama Kamel confirmed that the building is now ready to receive research equipment, emphasizing the importance of laboratory supervisors ensuring the readiness of labs to receive and operate the devices.
The board also discussed a plan to purchase new equipment serving nanotechnology and its applications in both fundamental and applied sciences, while exploring the possibility of securing financial support through research projects to equip the center with state-of-the-art instruments.
She stressed the importance of investing in research assets and establishing a future plan to develop the center’s infrastructure to ensure maximum operational efficiency and research quality.
The meeting also addressed the administrative and organizational aspects of the center, including approval of the new administrative structure and the direct transfer of devices to laboratories to ensure their preservation and immediate operation upon delivery. A memorandum on furnishing and operational supplies for the center was also presented.
Regarding the center’s media presence, the board discussed issuing an introductory brochure about the center and its research units, completing the design of the center’s official website, and the need to update it regularly with scientific content and informative visuals.
The board also emphasized the importance of determining the required number of technical and administrative staff, securing them through transfer or secondment, and providing training on the operation and maintenance of equipment as well as their related technical and administrative responsibilities.
It is worth noting that the Nanotechnology Center at Ain Shams University represents an integrated research hub aimed at supporting scientific and applied innovation in the field of nanotechnology and employing its outcomes to serve industry and scientific research in Egypt.
