The Faculty of Arts Implements a Training Program for People with Disabilities on Sustainable Development and Governance

The Faculty of Arts at Ain Shams University organized a specialized training program for people with disabilities titled “Awareness of Sustainable Development, Governance, and Egypt’s Vision 2030.” This initiative was held under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of the University, and Prof. Hanan Kamel, Dean of the Faculty, supervised by Prof. Mohamed Ibrahim Hassan, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs and Vice Chairman of the Electronic Vision Center Board, with management by Prof. Nadia Hasheesh, Director of the Center, reflecting the university’s genuine commitment to empowering people with disabilities and integrating them into the national development process.

This program was part of a collaboration between the Electronic Vision Center at the faculty and the General Administration for Human Capacity Development and Enhancement, under the initiative launched by the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development.

The training aimed to open new horizons for students with visual and physical disabilities, providing them with broader opportunities to participate in development by raising their awareness of sustainable development concepts and good governance, key pillars of Egypt’s Vision 2030.

During the event, Prof. Hanan Kamel emphasized that empowering people with disabilities is an integral part of the faculty’s mission. She highlighted that the future of Egypt’s development cannot be built without the participation of all its citizens, praising the enthusiasm and engagement of the students with the program, which reflects their genuine desire to contribute to nation-building.

Meanwhile, Prof. Mohamed Ibrahim Hassan expressed his happiness with the students’ attendance and interaction, affirming that such programs go beyond theoretical lectures; they represent a real step towards enabling students to play a meaningful role in society through a deeper understanding of development, governance, and transparency.

The training was delivered by Dr. Eman Ragab, a researcher at the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development, who presented the basic concepts of sustainable development as defined by the World Bank and the United Nations, along with an introduction to governance mechanisms and their role in achieving balanced development.

The event concluded with the honoring of participants. Prof. Hanan Kamel presented certificates of appreciation to students who successfully completed the training. The students expressed their gratitude for the learning and participation opportunity, affirming that programs like this strongly boost their confidence in their abilities and potential to shape the future.
