The Graduate Studies and Research Sector at the Faculty of Al-Alsun, Ain Shams University, in cooperation with the Simultaneous Interpretation Department of the United Nations Headquarters in Vienna, organized an online lecture titled “Simultaneous Interpretation in the Arabic Booth at the United Nations Headquarters in Vienna” via Microsoft Teams, under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University; Prof. Amany Osama Kamel, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research; and Prof. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty of Al-Alsun, supervised by Prof. Ashraf Atiya, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research.

The lecture was conducted by Ms. Hiam Al-Eisawy, simultaneous interpreter at the UN Headquarters in Vienna, with the participation of interpreters from the Arabic booth at the UN in Vienna. It was attended by 104 participants including faculty staff, assistants, and postgraduate students.
The session began with an overview of simultaneous interpretation at the UN Headquarters in Vienna, followed by a practical demonstration of meeting preparation through a case study illustrating the steps of preparation with real examples.
The lecture concluded with a presentation about the training activities available for visiting students at the UN Headquarters in Vienna, along with sharing important links that faculty members can utilize for teaching and training in simultaneous interpretation skills.
This seminar reflects the Faculty of Al-Alsun’s commitment to enhancing international academic communication and providing outstanding training opportunities for its students by exposing them to global experiences in simultaneous interpretation, thereby improving the competence of postgraduate students and preparing them for the international job market.
