Prof. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health, Prof. Mohamed Awad Tag El-Din, Advisor to the President of the Republic for Health and Prevention Affairs, and Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, inaugurated the 5th International Conference of the Faculty of Dentistry at Ain Shams University, titled "Made in Egypt for Dentistry", organized by the Faculty in collaboration with Misr International University and Goethe University Frankfurt in Germany.
The event was attended by Prof. Amany Osama Kamel, Vice President of Ain Shams University for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Karim El Battouti, Dean of the Faculty, and a distinguished group of university presidents and dental sector leaders.

In his speech, Prof. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar affirmed that access to healthcare is a fundamental right for every citizen, highlighting the Ministry's provision of high-quality state-funded services alongside a health insurance system covering workers across various sectors with an annual cost of EGP 51 billion.
He highlighted the government’s efforts to reduce the fertility rate to 2.3 children per woman, achieving a population balance that eases pressure on resources and supports sustainable development.
He also reviewed the implementation of the comprehensive health insurance system in selected governorates, stressing the importance of preventive services through 15 national health initiatives covering all age groups, in addition to national vaccination programs.
He noted a decline in late-stage (Stage 4) breast cancer diagnoses from 70% to 20%, thanks to the national strategy for early detection and awareness. He emphasized that Egypt has become a global reference in the fight against Hepatitis C, and a model for public health improvement.

He also discussed the Egyptian Genome Project, which aims to map the genetic structure of the population to support preventive medicine, personalized treatment, scientific research, and evidence-based health policymaking.
Furthermore, he reviewed the Ministry’s response in receiving injured individuals from Gaza, through a comprehensive plan that includes surgeries and full medical care to meet emergency needs.
For his part, Prof. Mohamed Awad Tag El-Din presented the history of the Faculty of Dentistry at Ain Shams University and its development into one of the top faculties nationally and internationally, thanks to the quality of its education and training.
In his remarks, Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, stated that the conference reflects the national vision for building an innovative, self-reliant healthcare sector, aligned with Egypt Vision 2030, which places health, education, and industrial localization at the core of sustainable development.

He noted that the conference is inspired by the vision of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, who continues to support efforts to position Egypt as a regional hub for health manufacturing and innovation.
He emphasized that the university believes that universities are not only centers of education and research but also engines of national development, through partnerships with industry and international bodies aimed at translating scientific knowledge into tangible results that enhance the national economy, empower youth, and promote societal well-being.
He also praised the efforts of the Ministry of Health in developing the national healthcare system under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar.
At the conclusion of his speech, the President of Ain Shams University expressed his hope that the conference would mark a new milestone in reinforcing Egypt's leadership in dentistry, advancing local manufacturing toward a more resilient, distinguished, and sustainable future in support of Egypt Vision 2030.
Prof. Karim El Battouti, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, explained that the college and the conference complement one another, noting that the conference’s approach aligns with that of the faculty to collaboration with the Ministry of Health to enhance the skills of its dental professionals, in addition to partnerships with the industrial sector to localize the dental industry in Egypt.
He stated that real progress has been made on both sides, as reflected in the current conference. There is strong participation from dentists affiliated with the Ministry of Health, and the Faculty of Dentistry supervises Al-Zahraa Hospital in Nasr City, affiliated with the Ministry.

Moreover, Ain Shams University’s Faculty of Dentistry now serves as the technical office for a local dental implant manufacturer, following the signing of a cooperation protocol under which the faculty conducts research and measurements inside Egypt.
Prof. Hossam Tawfik, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry at Misr International University, stressed the importance of collaboration between local and international universities in scientific and research fields to generate knowledge and transform it into products and services that meet the evolving needs of society.
He added that the conference serves as a platform to promote teamwork and innovation, contributing to the advancement of education and research in the field of dentistry.

Prof. Walaa Hamed, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development and Vice President of the Conference, emphasized that this year’s edition reflects the university’s direction toward supporting scientific research and innovative applications, expressing appreciation for the substantial support received from the Ministry of Health and Ain Shams University Presidency in making the conference a success.
Prof. Amr Abdel Aziz, Emeritus Professor of Dentistry and Secretary of the Conference, stated that this year’s scientific program includes participation from 250 professors from around the world, and features 300 scientific lectures covering all dental specialties, along with 40 training courses attended by more than 1,000 dentists.
The conference also includes an international exhibition featuring 150 companies working in the dental field, as well as a forum focused on industrial localization, bringing together institutions and stakeholders in the development of this vital sector. In addition, over 1,000 specialized dental applications will be presented in various fields.
