The activities of Ain Shams University’s Comprehensive Development Caravan to the cities of Shalateen, Abu Ramad, and Halayeb in the Red Sea Governorate have officially begun. The caravan is held under the patronage of Major General Amr Hanafi, Governor of the Red Sea, Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development. It is organized by the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector at Ain Shams University, in cooperation with the Red Sea Governorate, the Southern Military Region, and the Egyptian Red Crescent, and will continue until October 16.

On the first day, residents of the Shalateen district visited the caravan’s various clinics, which include: Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, ENT, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, Cardiology, Dermatology, Dentistry, Neurology, and Surgery. The caravan also features a laboratory, radiology unit, and pharmacy, providing medications free of charge.
The activities also included awareness lectures for school students across different educational levels, covering a variety of health and educational topics.

Prof. Ghada Farouk emphasized that Ain Shams University is keen to actively participate in various community initiatives, particularly presidential initiatives, in line with its national role in serving society. She noted that the comprehensive development caravans are among the main activities aimed at supporting the most needy areas through integrated medical, awareness, and development services.

She also explained that the caravan’s activities were organized according to the needs of the targeted communities, with the participation of several university faculties from various specialties.
The caravan is supervised by Prof. Hala Samir Sweid, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Community and Environmental Affairs, and Prof. Tarek Youssef, Executive Director of University Hospitals, in coordination with Major General Hossam El-Shorbini, Assistant Secretary of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development.
