In line with Ain Shams University’s commitment to supporting excellence and creativity and enhancing the stature of its scholars and thinkers across various fields, the university announces the opening of nominations for the 2026 State Awards organized by the Supreme Council of Culture in the fields of Arts, Literature, and Social Sciences.
The State Awards are among the highest honors granted by the Arab Republic of Egypt, recognizing the contributions of thinkers, creators, and researchers. The awards include the following categories:
1- The Nile Award:
Granted to distinguished figures in the fields of arts, literature, or social sciences. The award amounts to EGP 500,000 along with a gold medal. It includes three awards for Egyptian innovators (Arts – Literature – Social Sciences) and one award for Arab innovators in any of these fields.
2- The State Appreciation Award:
Given to those distinguished in intellectual production in arts, literature, and social sciences. It amounts to EGP 200,000 and a gold medal, distributed among ten awards (3 for Arts – 3 for Literature – 4 for Social Sciences).
3- The State Excellence Award:
Awarded to outstanding innovators in arts, literature, and social sciences. It carries a prize of EGP 100,000 and a silver medal, encouraging continuous creativity and contribution. There are seven awards in total (2 for Arts – 2 for Literature – 3 for Social Sciences).
4- The State Encouragement Award:
Aims to support and encourage intellectual production in arts, literature, social sciences, legal sciences, and economics. Each award amounts to EGP 50,000, with a total of 32 awards across various specializations.
Ain Shams University invites all faculty staff and teaching assistants who meet the nomination criteria to promptly apply for prestigious awards that reflect the state’s recognition of the dedication of its scholars and thinkers.

Important Notes:
- The University Awards Office urges faculty members from relevant colleges to complete requirements for the Nile, Appreciation, and Excellence Awards well ahead of deadlines to allow sufficient time for approvals and nominations.
- Nominations must be completed via the respective colleges and forwarded with approvals to the General Administration for Scientific Research at the university no later than November 18, 2025.
