Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of Ain Shams University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, headed a delegation to visit the headquarters of the Egyptian Red Crescent Society, accompanied by a group of deans of faculties and vice deans of faculties for community service and environmental development affairs, where they were received by Dr. Amal Emam, Executive Director of the Egyptian Red Crescent, Mr. Yasser Abdullah, Administrative Director of the Society, Mr. Lotfy Ghaith, Director of the Central Operations Room, and a group of advisors at the Society. The visit comes within the framework of activating the pioneering societal role of Ain Shams University.

Dr. Amal Emam began her speech by welcoming the university delegation, expressing her pride in being a graduate of the university. She reviewed the history of the Egyptian Red Crescent Society as the oldest voluntary association in Egypt dating back to 1898. The idea was initiated by Sheikh Muhammad Abduh, and the first law regulating the society was issued in 1913. The Red Crescent Society has headquarters in more than 192 countries around the world, performing its role under the slogan "For Humanity." She highlighted a number of shining examples of Egyptian female volunteers over the past years who have set the highest examples of giving and sacrifice in various crises.

In her speech, Prof. Ghada Farouk emphasized the sector's commitment to establishing and implementing strategic partnerships to serve as effective arms in various societal circles, enabling the university to fulfill its societal role more effectively and impactfully. She praised the efforts of the Egyptian Red Crescent, which are evident in crises and disasters, in addition to its ongoing activities.
Prof. Ghada Farouk also reviewed the idea of the university's community observatory and the establishment of a center for student volunteers through the observatory in partnership with the Red Crescent. She pointed out that the number of student volunteers affiliated with the university exceeds 80,000 students across various faculties, stressing that those wishing to volunteer exceed those numbers. She explained that participating in volunteer work enhances the student's skills, broadens his horizons, and contributes to building a strong personality. It also opens up new horizons for him in his professional life and makes him more loyal to his community and country. Her Excellency added that this student volunteer center will be the first of its kind within public universities, stressing the importance of setting a specific timetable with joint activities implemented on a regular basis.

A documentary film was then shown about the Egyptian Red Crescent's efforts in a number of recent crises, including the war in Sudan, which lasted for more than 800 days, and the war in Gaza, which lasted for more than 645 days, in addition to the efforts provided in a number of other incidents. The film also included a review of the units, centers, and services provided by the Red Crescent.
The delegation also toured the Red Crescent Society's headquarters, including the Society's museum, its various halls, and the central operations room. They were shown the latest satellite-connected technology to help keep abreast of developments. They also visited the food packaging center, and as a symbolic gesture, all members of the delegation participated in the food packaging process.
It is worth noting that the visit was coordinated by Prof. Farid Moharam, Dean of the Faculty of Business, and Prof. Jihan Ragab, Professor of Marketing at the Faculty of Business.
At the conclusion of the visit, both sides presented commemorative shields. The Egyptian Red Crescent Society Medal was also presented to Prof. Farid Moharam, Dean of the Faculty of Business, in appreciation of his efforts in coordinating the visit.
