Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of Ain Shams University, chaired the regular meeting of the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector Council, in the presence of the council members, including deans of faculties, vice deans for community service and environmental development affairs, and the university’s assistant secretary for community service and environmental development affairs.
Prof. Ghada Farouk began the session by reviewing the project to establish a Francophonie Centre (Universitaire de la francophonie), with the aim of supporting academic and development cooperation and enhancing scientific aspects and cultural exchange with French-speaking countries, thus supporting opportunities for international cooperation, developing education, promoting a culture of diversity, and contributing to the advancement of the university’s international ranking.

Her Excellency indicated that it was agreed to divide the work into groups comprising the Database Committee, the Marketing Committee, the Strategic Development Committee, and the Center's Friends of the Researchers and Students Club.
Prof. Ghada Farouk indicated that the university is in the process of launching a community observatory, which will serve as an effective tool for monitoring and analyzing societal phenomena and problems, with the goal of understanding, explaining, and predicting them, leading to scientific mechanisms for controlling them. This will contribute to supporting sustainable development goals and achieving Egypt's National Strategy 2030.

Prof. Ghada Farouk also reviewed a report on the awareness campaigns organized by the sector for various educational levels during the 2024/2025 academic year. Eighty-five awareness campaigns were organized in 13 educational directorates in Cairo, benefiting 6,270 male and female students. The topics covered by the campaigns varied between health, social, behavioral, and artistic awareness.
Prof. Ghada Farouk also praised the efforts of those involved in organizing and implementing the campaigns, which reflect the university’s influential societal role in the surrounding environment, through simple, impactful activities that support and develop the community.
The session also included a discussion of a proposal to launch a series of short awareness-raising films targeting youth through various social media platforms, focusing on providing simple awareness of various societal issues that concern society.
The Council reviewed the summer maintenance plan, which begins after the completion of exams. This plan includes reviewing the university’s civil defense plan, equipping first aid rooms in each faculty, and maintaining all equipment and devices in line with the university’s efforts to achieve environmental sustainability through solid waste disposal and recycling.
