Ain Shams University advances 50 places globally in the QS World University Rankings 2025

Under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, the university achieved an accomplishment in its international rankings. The QS World University Rankings 2025 announced its results, placing Ain Shams University 542nd globally, advancing 50 places from 592nd last year.

Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen pointed out the university administration's commitment to achieving continuous improvement in the university's ranking in various international rankings. This is achieved through a strategy focused on raising international publication rates in prestigious scientific journals, providing financial support to researchers, and focusing on the quality of scientific research. This is in addition to increasing the number of incoming students and building international partnerships with major international universities, thus producing highly qualified graduates capable of competing internationally.

Dr. Ahmed Al-Banna, Director of the University's International Rankings Department, stated that the QS World University Rankings is an international academic ranking issued annually by the British higher education institution Quacquarelli Symonds. It aims to evaluate the performance of universities around the world based on a set of criteria that balance academic reputation, scientific research, international openness, and employment opportunities. These criteria include academic reputation (30%), university reputation among employers (15%), faculty-to-student ratio (10%), number of research citations per faculty member (20%), percentage of international students (5%), and percentage of international faculty members (5%). The latest edition of the rankings has also added an employment outcomes indicator (5%) and a sustainability indicator (5%), to more comprehensively reflect the quality of education and the global influence of academic institutions.
