An educational and entertaining day in the Pediatrics Department at the Faculty of Medicine for ketogenic diet children who suffer from intractable epilepsy

On Sunday, February 25, 2024, the Department of Neurology and Clinical Nutrition, Department of Pediatrics, Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, organized an educational and entertaining day for children on the ketogenic diet who suffer from intractable epilepsy, under the auspices of Prof. Ali Al-Anwar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Hospital Board of Directors, Prof. Tarek Youssef, Executive Director, University Hospitals, Prof. Omnia Al-Rashidi, Professor of Pediatrics and Neurology at the Faculty, Prof. Mai Nassar, Professor of Pediatrics and Clinical Nutrition and Head of the Clinical Nutrition Unit at the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, Prof. Yasmeen Gamal, Professor of Pediatrics and Clinical Nutrition and Director of Ain Shams University Children’s Hospital.

Today's activities included the presentation of simplified lectures from more than one specialty by specialists and consultants. They were well received by the patients' families and witnessed interaction from them.

A ceremony was also held to distribute gifts, prizes, and some special baked goods for ketogenic diet patients, the work of which was supervised and implemented by the medical kitchen group of the University Children’s Hospital in Ain Shams University.

The children enjoyed several games in addition to gifts and took souvenir photos with them.
