48 scientists from Ain Shams University are on Stanford’s list of the top 2% of the world’s scientists

In the context of Ain Shams University’s leadership in the field of scientific research at the local and international levels, and as a culmination of the scientific research process distinguished by the university’s scientists throughout its history, Professor Dr. Ghada Farouk, Acting President of Ain Shams University, announced the inclusion of 48 Ain Shams University scientists among the best World scientists, as part of a new update to a report issued by researchers at Stanford University in the United States, issued in 2023.

   
   

It is worth noting that the criteria upon which the classification was based to include researchers around the world in this list depend on the number of citations to research published by these scholars, and the index of the number of publications whose author has been cited by other authors at least the same number of times (h-index). The modified hm index for co-authorship, citations to research papers at different authorship positions, and a composite index (c-score) are also used, as well as Scopus data provided by Elsevier.

The new scientific report issued in 2023 includes university scientists in the fields of medicine, science, engineering and others, an increase in the number of researchers listed over previous years, which reflects the university administration’s approach to supporting scientific research and encouraging scientists to achieve their national and global contributions.

The report included representation from 5 of the university’s Faculties, as the University’s Faculty of Education recorded the inclusion of the largest number of university scientists on Stanford’s list, as 15 scientists from the Faculty’s faculty were included, which represents 31.25% of the total number of those listed from the university, followed by the Faculty of Science, which included the inclusion of 13. Scientists (27.1%), then the Faculty of Pharmacy, which included 11 scientists (22.9%), the Faculty of Engineering, which included 6 scientists (12.5%), and finally the Faculty of Medicine, where the classification included the inclusion of 3 scientists from the faculties' scientists (6.25%).
