Activities of the Children's University at the Faculty of Science

In continuation of the activities of the Children's University at Ain Shams University, the Faculty of Science hosted on Thursday 2/2/2023 a group of 80 children from the Children's University.

The day started with a welcome from Prof. Muhammad Rajaa Al-Satohi, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Prof. Iman Abdel-Azim, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs with children, under the supervision and coordination of Dr. Noha Al-Rafei, Deputy Director of the Grants and Projects Department and Coordinator of the Children's University at Ain Shams University, and Dr. Islam Adly, teacher of entomology and coordinator of the Faculty of Science.

         
   
         

Where Dr. Islam Adly gave an introductory lecture to all departments of the faculty, then the students visited the various departments of the faculty to learn about the different sciences in the faculty.

The children's tour began with an introductory lecture for the Mathematics Department, delivered by Dr. Mona Tariq, the teaching assistant in the department, then the students visited the laboratories of the Chemistry Department, where Prof. Nour Ahmed presented some important chemical experiments.

         
   
         

After that, the students visited the Department of Zoology and the Museum of the Department of Zoology, where Dr. Asmaa Ali, the teacher in the department, gave a full explanation of the museum of the Department of Zoology and the creatures it contains. The children finished their tour program in the Museum of the Department of Entomology, which is one of the most important museums of entomology in Egyptian universities.

Each of Dr. Islam Adly, a teacher in the department, and Dr. Abdullah Samer, a lecturer in the department, explained the Museum of Entomology, and the students learned important information about insects, their medical importance, and how to conserve insect samples that are used in the educational process for students of entomology departments in Egyptian universities. The students also participated in a discussion with a group of entomology researchers about the medical and economic importance of beneficial insects such as honey bees and other important insects.

It is worth noting that the Faculty of Science is considered the headquarters for receiving students of Children's University for the entire program days under the supervision of the Grants and Projects Management Team, where the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Muhammad Rajaa Al-Sutuhi for making the faculty’s services available and allocating one of its auditoriums for the success of this important project. He was also keen, in coordination with Dr. Islam Adly, a teacher at the faculty, on making an enrichment program in the various departments of the faculty for the students during their visit.
