Ain Shams University, headed by Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini, announced that the patient, Sahar, is recovering, and a lung transplant was performed for her as the first case of transplantation in Egypt and the Middle East from a living donor. Dr. Ahmed Mostafa, Director of the Lung Transplant Program, said that Sahar is recovering, pointing out that the intensive care period is a very delicate period in the patient’s life and these organs were separated from the diseased.

He added that the next stage focuses on physical and respiratory rehabilitation, which may take two to three weeks.

Prof. Mohamed Hussein, Director of the Lung Transplant Unit at Ain Shams University, confirmed that Sahar's lung is working perfectly and has returned to its normal function, and that the condition is stable and in continuous improvement. Disconnect her from the ventilator during the next week.
