Ambassador Suha Gendy, Minister of State for Immigration and Egyptians Abroad Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of Ain Shams University, witnessed the opening of the forty-ninth annual international conference of the Association of Egyptian-American Scholars, at Ain Shams University, with the participation of about 25 senior Egyptian scholars in America and Canada, under the auspices of Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, and in the presence of Prof. Dr. Abdel-Fattah Saoud, Vice President of Ain Shams University for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ghada Farouk, Acting Vice President of Ain Shams University for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Dr. Essam El-Kurdi, President of El Alamein University, Prof. Dr. Tareq Saleh, Dean Faculty of Arts and Letters, October University, Prof. Dr. Ashraf Shaalan, former president of the National Research Center, head of the Energy Research Center at the center, and general supervisor of the scientific journal at the National Research Center, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Hamza, former cultural advisor in the United States and advisor to the Egyptian government at the American University, Prof. Dr. Khaled Al-Dhahabi, head of the Center Housing and Building Research and a group of deans and vice-presidents of faculties and directors of centers of excellence at Ain Shams University .

Also, Ambassador Howaida Essam, Consul General of the Arab Republic of Egypt in New York, Professor Dr. Ali Masoud, Cultural Counselor in the United States of America, and Dr. Rami Galal, member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, participated in the conference.

The conference, which will be held from December 27 to 29, 2022, is chaired by Prof. Dr. Ghada Farouk, Acting Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development (co-chair from Egypt from Ain Shams University), and Professor Mohamed Atallah from the Association of Egyptian Scientists in America and Canada (AEAS), appreciate the efforts of Dr. Mohamed Atallah, Vice President of New York University And Vice President of the Association of Egyptian Scholars in America and Canada, who supervises the organization of the conference, during the period from December 27 to December 29, 2022.

At the beginning of her speech, Ambassador Soha Gendi affirmed that the Egyptian state attaches great importance to Egyptians abroad, which was represented in entrusting the political leadership of the Ministry of State for Immigration and Egyptians Abroad Affairs since 2015 to work to take care of the interests of Egyptian citizens abroad, provide them with all possible assistance, solve problems facing them and provide them with honest information about the homeland, in addition to strengthening the bond of these Egyptians and their children to the homeland and integrating them into the country’s development efforts to achieve the maximum benefit from their experiences in various fields.

Her Excellency also referred to the Egyptian state's tendency to benefit from our immigrant minds abroad and to integrate their expertise and experiences within Egypt's strategy for sustainable development 2030, which invests in the genius of place and people to achieve sustainable development to improve the quality of life of Egyptians. In this context, the Ministry of State for Immigration and Egyptians Affairs Abroad organized (6) copies of " The Egypt Can Conference” focused on discussing many developmental areas that contribute effectively to the implementation of the desired development processes and creating a platform through which to listen to various Egyptian experts abroad in various fields, the focus of the political leadership’s interest and the state’s orientations.

The Minister of Immigration added that Egypt is deeply rooted in its civilization, and carries with it the elements of success, progress, science, and sophistication that enhance means of cooperation and joint integration with all success partners, explaining that all of this requires all of us to move forward towards preparing appropriate strategies to advance comprehensive development plans and ensure their activation, promote and support economic cooperation based on the rules of science and advanced scientific research, exchange information and experiences among us, work to remove obstacles and barriers for integration, and reach new and advanced mechanisms to bring about comprehensive development integration.

Ambassador Soha Gendy, Minister of Immigration, welcomed all the attendees, saying: "I am honored, on behalf of the Ministry of Immigration and Egyptians Abroad, to open the work of the 49th session of the Egyptian Scholars Association Conference in America and Canada, and allow me to address all of us with a greeting of appreciation to the scholars of Egypt. Those who deserve all our pride and honor for their tireless effort and hard work in upholding the status of their dear homeland".

The Minister of Immigration also thanked and appreciated Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Dr. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of Ain Shams University, praising the scientific development of this huge academic edifice keeping pace with technological development, which contributed to improving the university's global ranking.

Ambassador Suha Gendy continued: "Today I am addressing this group of scholars from the same scientific edifice to whom I owe allegiance as one of its graduates, addressing our senior scholars from the United States and Canada, celebrating with them the launch of the 49th session of the Association of Egyptian Scientists in the United States and Canada in my capacity as the Egyptian Minister of Immigration, the sponsor of this conference Which always aims to provide all aspects of assistance to the homeland in order to achieve the development plan in Egypt 2030, and it is inevitable to say that Egyptian scholars always put all their capabilities to serve the issues of the country and its future plans, wishing you all a good and fruitful stay, and the conference is successful".

Ambassador Soha Gendy confirmed that the Ministry of Immigration has launched, since its launch, 6 copies of the "Egypt Can" series of conferences to attract our scholars and experts abroad, as an investment in the success achieved by the first conference organized by the Ministry of State for Immigration and Egyptian Affairs Abroad under the title "Egypt Can...With its Scholars," which It was held in December 2016, with the participation of elite Egyptian scholars abroad and resulted in important decisions and recommendations.

The Minister of Immigration confirmed that all conferences were held under the auspices of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic; According to the country's development priorities, as follows:

1- Egypt can, with its scientists (economic development file, the Suez Canal economic zone)

2- Egypt can with the taa (the Egyptian woman is an ambassador for her country abroad)

3- Egypt is empowered by the sons of the Nile (water and food file)

4- Egypt is capable of education (education system development file)

5- Egypt can invest and develop (the investment file and attract major investment companies in the world through Egyptians abroad)

6- Egypt is capable of industry (the industry file, focuses on the following industries: cars, green industry, technology, pharmaceutical and medical, textiles, and industries of the future).

Ambassador Soha Gendi added that the conference will be attended by the most prominent Egyptian experts and scholars abroad, in addition to government agencies and institutions concerned with the country.

Sessions dealing with the most prominent and important topics that are selected are held in coordination with the concerned agencies, and the implementation of the recommendations of the conferences and the competent authorities is followed up, based on Egypt’s belief in the lofty value of science, which tops the priorities of the sustainable development strategy in our country, and the associated scientific research activities in various fields.

Ambassador Soha Gendi added: "I would like to commend the efforts of the Association of Egyptian Scholars in America and Canada, and I always value their keenness to participate in the Egypt Can Conference series, and their desire always for Egypt to be advanced in all fields, and the Ministry of Immigration and Egyptians Affairs Abroad has been a partner and always present in all conferences." The Minister of Immigration confirmed that the Ministry will continue to work as an important partner to facilitate communication mechanisms between experts and all the various ministries, institutions, and bodies in Egypt, and many experts have already communicated with the relevant ministries and bodies in Egypt, including the ministries of Industry, Education and Scientific Research, Health, Military Production, and Irrigation, Agriculture, Business Sector, Planning, and other ministries.

Ambassador Soha Gendi indicated the keenness of our various experts abroad to participate in their efforts in order to achieve Egypt's strategy for sustainable development, "Egypt's Vision 2030", which reflects the basic features of the new Egypt during the next 15 years, based on the terms of the plan towards creating a stimulating and supportive environment for excellence, and innovation in scientific research, keeping pace with Egyptian scientists with their counterparts abroad through branches of foreign universities and attracting Egyptian cadres, and working to link Egyptian scientists abroad with their home country that has never been separated from them.

Concluding her speech, Ambassador Suha Gendy, Minister of Immigration, affirmed the keenness of the political leadership for scientists to be an essential part and a locomotive that drives the development process in Egypt and a backbone for all major national projects. Whereas, Mr. President is keen on the presence of a council of Egyptian scholars as scientific advisors to his sovereignty and the Presidency, as they are the main locomotive for advancing the development process in the new republic, and would like to stress that despite the difficulties and challenges we face in our journey towards development and development, we are on the right path, racing against time and that the achievements that have been achieved at various levels and levels motivate us to exert more effort and giving for the advancement, progress, and prosperity of our Egyptian society.

The Association of Egyptian Scientists in America and Canada honored Ambassador Suha El-Gendy, Minister of Immigration, for her efforts to support Egyptian scholars abroad and her endeavor to benefit from their expertise in various national projects.

In his speech, Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of Ain Shams University, welcomed the attendees at Ain Shams University, thanking Prime Minister Dr. Mustafa Madbouly for his sponsorship of the conference, as well as the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Ayman Ashour, and Ambassador Suha El-Gendy, Minister of Immigration.

The university president praised the rich agenda of the conference, wishing the conference success, and stressed that Ain Shams University is interested in establishing partnerships and cooperation with all scientific and research institutions inside and outside Egypt, expressing his hope that there will be cooperation and communication between the university faculties and the participants in the conference, and that it will expand this cooperation and communication to include all Egyptian universities.

Ambassador Howaida Essam, Consul General in New York State, pointed out the importance of the pivotal role played by the associations of Egyptians abroad, which is considered a constitution for communication between the inside and outside to transfer technologies and techniques first-hand to our beloved Egypt to enhance the state's efforts and move towards achieving sustainable development through Egypt's Vision 2030, which joins hands with the state institutions under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi is nothing but the nucleus of development and prosperity in the near future, which reflects the basic features of our new Egypt during the coming years, based on the provisions of the strategic plan of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and keeping pace with disciplined Egyptian scholars abroad by attracting Egyptian cadres with the largest foreign educational cadres and working to raise Egyptian scholars abroad continuously in order to achieve the strategy of higher education and Egypt's vision for 2030.

In his speech, Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President of Ain Shams University for Education and Student Affairs, explained that the idea of gathering for this conference came after the October War of 1973 and the liberation of the land at the hands of evacuation scholars residing in the countries of America and Canada of Egyptian origin, who believe that the idea of ​​liberating the land is very important as a basic first step to help their motherland And the liberation of thought and the launch of science, as they work to transfer this idea to other generations, explaining that had it not been for these scholars to receive the first seed of their knowledge in Egyptian universities, these nascent roots would not have been launched in the launch of internationalism, and they would not have been able to reach this position in other countries.

His Excellency also pointed out that Egyptian universities are doing their best to produce a great educational product that is needed all over the world, and therefore scientific research and university education in Egypt are now witnessing great interest and development, pointing out that there are 689 Egyptian scientists who have reached the highest rate of international publication in the Stanford list, including 48 scientists from Ain Shams University, and there are many international scientists who have many patents, letters and research published internationally, but they did not reach this list.

And reviewed Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saoud Egypt's great role in hosting the Conference of the States Parties and the Climate COP27, which dealt with the issue of climate change and the goals of sustainable development, which is the focus of the global conversation and its ability to bring together those global forces and parties under the leadership of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, as it is no longer a place for the event only, but It was a main focus of the event, and that the Association's conference for this year was inspired by its basic idea and the focus of its research on the goals of sustainable development.

Dr. Ali Masoud, Cultural Counselor of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Washington, indicated that the conference demonstrates the interest of the Egyptian state, represented by its political leadership, governments, and national institutions, in the importance of the role that Egyptian scholars abroad can play in achieving sustainable development for our homeland 2030.

His Excellency praised the achievement of sustainable development for our dear country because of our material and human capital and national institutions that are able to enhance the benefit from them, referring to the achievements made by the Egyptian state during the past eight years in the areas of infrastructure and improving the business and investment environment, which paves the way for achieving development in all fields, in addition to what the Armed Forces played a national role that history stands for in implementing and supervising national projects in all parts of Egypt, supported by our national government and Egyptian scholars at home and abroad.

He also alluded to what the Cultural Affairs and Missions Sector in the Ministry of Higher Education directs all Egyptian cultural offices abroad to communicate with scholars, as well as the implementation of a number of initiatives, including the partnership between Egyptian and American universities, coordination in hosting Egyptian scholars and researchers in American universities, and arranging visits for Egyptian scholars in America to scientific and research institutions in Egypt. Within the framework of the Day for Egypt initiative to coordinate with Egyptian scientists in America for their respective participation in the development of industry and technology transfer in all fields.

He concluded his speech with the role of the Cultural Office in Washington to follow a strategic plan to transfer technology and support scientific and research institutions in Egypt by mobilizing the efforts of Egyptian scientists in America and Canada in all fields.

In his speech, Dr. Mohamed Atallah of the Association of Egyptian Scientists in America and Canada (AEAS) explained that the association aims to create a strong mechanism for continuous and creative cooperation between Egyptians in universities and research centers in Canada and America and their peers inside Egypt in its various universities and research centers.

He added that during the long history of the Association, its members participated in many joint research projects in various fields, including projects with the Supreme Council of Universities, the Quality and Accreditation Authority for Education, the Academy of Scientific Research, and the Development Bridges Program, in addition to the joint supervision of postgraduate studies and also the provision of scholarships to thousands of Egyptian students, which Many of them became active members of the association.

Dr. Mohamed Hijab, California State University, explained that this year's conference discusses solutions to climate change, global health, and the development of Egypt, adding that we gather from all over the world to discuss and discover ways in which we can promote the development of local science and technology in Egypt, and he also expressed his hopes that he will invest Association Scientists in the future social and economic development of Egypt, and enhance its participation in the global community, by setting priorities, building infrastructure, and creating investment opportunities, so that we can pave the way for a bright and successful future.

The organization of the forty-ninth annual international conference of the Association of Egyptian Scientists in America and Canada comes as part of the ongoing activity on climate change, global health, and sustainable development in all scientific fields. The conference discusses six axes; They are cybersecurity and digital transformation, climate change, energy conservation, and renewable energy, higher education and scientific research development, public health and medical sciences, manufacturing and smart industries, and sustainable development.

It is worth noting that the Association of Egyptian Scientists in America and Canada (AEAS) was founded in 1973, and its mission is to create a forum for Egyptian scholars in North America to facilitate dialogue and foster partnerships with their Egyptian counterparts to implement beneficial scientific endeavors.
