Opening of the Second International Conference on Nanotechnology in cooperation between Ain Shams University and Mansoura University

The activities of the Second International Conference on Nanotechnology, co-organized by Ain Shams and Mansoura Universities, were inaugurated by Etisal Association for the Information Technology Industry, with the Egyptian National Network for Nanotechnology affiliated with the Academy of Scientific and Technological Research, In the presence of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Dr.Sherif Youssef Khater, President of Mansoura University, Prof. Dr.Maged El Kemary, former president of Kafrelsheikh University, Prof. Dr. Dominique Adolphe, Vice President of the French University, Prof. Dr. Tariq Brovina, Vice President of the University of Eiffel, France, Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President of Ain Shams University for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Dr.Diaa Khalil, General Supervisor of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center at Ain Shams University, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Al-Khayyat, CEO of the New and Renewable Energy Authority, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Shedid, Executive Director of Etisal Association, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Nabil Sabry, Director of the Nanotechnology Center at Ain Shams University and Chairman of the Conference, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ragab, Director of the Nanotechnology Center, at the Mansoura University, Rapporteur of the Conference.

Over the course of three days, the conference will discuss 72 scientific papers, and 17 lecturers will lecture at the conference, including 4 from Egypt and 13 foreign lecturers from America, France, China, Russia, Canada, two Nobel Prize-winning scientists gave alecture at the conference. And researchers from 25 foreign universities, 33 Egyptian universities and research centers are participating in the conference.

Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of Ain Shams University, confirmedthe importance of scientific research in the field of nanotechnology and its multiple applications in the fields of medicine, agriculture, energy and water. He also stressed that Ain Shams University is in the process of opening a nanotechnology research center at the university, in order to support applied research in the field of nanotechnology as part of the state's vision. He also stressed the importance of cooperation and integration between Egyptian universities in that field, in order to increase scientific production, pointing to the importance of cooperation and the integration between Ain Shams University and Egyptian universities, including Mansoura University and Kafr El-Sheikh University in this field, in order to increase scientific production in quantity and quality, which brings prosperity and development to our country and the world.

Prof. Dr. SherifKhater confirmedthat Mansoura University has developed its strategic plan in order to develop the scientific research system and scientific activities as well as achieve community partnership and sustainable development, as Mansoura University established the Nanotechnology Center through a joint research project through the Science and Technology Development Fund since 2015, as was the University of Mansoura took the lead in presenting the proposal to establish a national network for nanotechnology in Egypt, where the Academy of Scientific Research agreed to fund the national network project for nanotechnology, which includes research centers working in the field of microtechnologyand nanotechnology, and the network seeks to include all bodies working in the field of micro and nanotechnology in Egypt To achieve integration between them, to participate in material and human resources to maximize their utilization, and to achieve research progress in this field, where Ain Shams University began to enter the world of nanotechnology by establishing the Materials and Nanosciences Program at the Faculty of Science, and it is one of the most important distinguished programs in the universities of Egypt.

Prof. Dr. Mohamed Nabil Sabry, conference president and coordinator of the Egyptian National Network for Nanotechnology, said that the research that will be presented at the conference deals with nanotechnology applications in four main axes: medicine, energy, industry, food system, water and the environment, stressing the importance of cooperation and forming research teams in nanotechnology research. Because of the diversity it requires in different disciplines to work with and implement theories and put them into practice, and touched on the many applications that will be presented in the conference, including early detection of cancer and its treatment in addition to reducing the chances of infection from the ground up, and useful research was presented in the field of solar energy as it is well known that nanotechnology has been able to achieve a significant reduction in the cost of producing electricity from solar energy. He also referred to many other applications of nanotechnology that the conference will address, including water treatment and purification, including the production of nanometer materials with special high-quality specifications for use in the construction or textile industries.
