A lecture at the Faculty of Science to raise awareness of the goals of the presidential initiative, a decent life

The Faculty of Science at Ain Shams University organized an awareness lecture on the goals of the presidential initiative, a decent life, which was launched in 2019 under the directives of the President of the Republic, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Rajaa Al-Satohi, Dean of the Faculty of Science at the University, and in the presence of each of Prof. Dr. Amani Suleiman, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, prof. Dr. Iman Abdel-Azim, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs.

Prof. Dr. Amani Suleiman, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, explained the importance of voluntary work, which gives the individual experience in his field of work, by enhancing the skills used in the workplace; such as communication skills, teamwork, problem-solving, and task management, noting that students should be aware of their country's national and voluntary projects that benefit the people of Egypt and actively participate in them.

         
   
         

Prof. Dr. Eman Abdel-Azim, Vice Dean for Education Affairs, thanked the students who attended from the Faculty’s children and urged them to serve their country, adhere to belonging to it, volunteer to serve it, and work to achieve their dreams in it, describing them as the aspired future hope of Egypt.

Dr. Mohamed Afifi, Vice President of the Medical Sector for Cairo Governorate for the Decent Life Initiative explained the history and goals of the initiative, which is one of the most important presidential initiatives to unify all efforts of the state, civil society, and the private sector with the aim of addressing poverty and providing a decent life with sustainable development through a development project with the efforts and hands of Egypt’s youth, which turned into success and a role model who works to develop villages into model villages that enjoy all kinds of services, improve the level of infrastructure and urban services, build the Egyptian person, and advance the intellectual, educational and health level of the rising generations.

         
   
         

Dr. Muhammad Afifi reviewed the objectives of the national project are a decent life, which are eradicating poverty, bridging developmental gaps, investing in human development, reviving the values of shared responsibility, and raising the social level, which are goals to achieve human rights, stressing that many forms of poverty have been eliminated, which is one of the goals of sustainable development.

Dr. Laila Zidan at the National Research Center and one of the coordinators of the Decent Life Initiative in Cairo Governorate indicated that the initiative aims to relieve the burden of citizens in the neediest communities in rural and Upper Egypt, as well as in slums in urban areas.

The initiative is based on the implementation of a set of service and development activities that will ensure a decent life for this group, improve their living conditions, and make them aware of the change.

As presented by Dr. Laila Zidan, the plan will be implemented within the next five years, targeting more than half of Egypt's population in one national project. She also presented the parties participating in this initiative, such as university youth, volunteers, and institutions.
