A student at the Faculty of Agriculture wins first place in the innovation competition in biotechnology

Alaa Hamed Mohamed Hamed, a third-year student in the Biotechnology Program at the Faculty of Agriculture, Ain Shams University, won the first place in the Biotechnology Innovation Competition organized by the Armed Forces Veterinary Hospital.

This is within the framework of the Egyptian Armed Forces' interest in training students of the biotechnology program in Egyptian universities in order to prepare a generation of Egyptian researchers in this field.

The university's participation comes under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of the University, Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Galal, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture.

The student dealt with the current problem of global warming resulting from environmental pollution and how to treat it through the use of biotechnology using different methods such as biological treatment using bacteria for organic waste.

   
   

She also referred to the role of biotechnology in achieving sustainable development goals and Egypt's Vision 2030. The presentation won first place for the importance of the topic and the good presentation of the problem, as well as its presentation of one of the most important environmental applications of biotechnology in a wonderful and simplified manner.

It is worth mentioning that the Armed Forces Veterinary Hospital organized a competition for creativity in biotechnology headed by Prof. Dr. Abdel Bary Prince, professor of biotechnology at Cairo University and scientific advisor to the Department of Veterinary Services in the Armed Forces, as part of the activities of the Conference on Biotechnology Applications in Veterinary Medicine and Various Sciences headed by Prof. Dr. Ayman Diab, Dean of the Faculty of Biotechnology at October University for Modern Sciences and Arts, during which many students participated in various Egyptian universities under the auspices of the Veterinary Services Administration Authority in the Armed Forces and in the presence of Dean Veterinarian Mohsen Abdel Hakam Azzouz, Chief of Staff of the Department of Veterinary Services, and Dean Veterinarian Mohamed Ibrahim Shendi Qaed Veterinary Hospital for treatment and laboratory analysis of the armed forces.

A large number of contestants participated from public, private, and private Egyptian universities. The universities included Ain Shams University, Cairo University, Misr University for Science and Technology, Badr University, Suez University, October University for Modern Sciences and Arts, Galala University, Beni Suef University, Nile University, Matrouh University, Tanta University, Kafr El-Sheikh University, Helwan University, Mansoura University, and Hartfordshire University.

The competition was in two phases, the first phase included the competition of fifty contestants, by presenting one of the modern topics in biotechnology applications in its medical, pharmaceutical, environmental, agricultural, bioinformatics fields and simplifying science in a way that links the Egyptian society with biotechnology science and its applications at its service, through presentations Using modern communication and community communication tools, the second stage was contested through presentations and research discussions in assessment sessions that lasted for six hours. Seven contestants from Ain Shams University were qualified out of twenty-five contestants who were promoted to the second stage, which was attended by arbitrators from different universities representing Seven Egyptian universities and institutes, including Prof. Dr. Nadia Hamdy, Head of the Biochemistry Department at the Faculty of Pharmacy, and other professors from the Faculty of Science at Ain Shams University.
