Under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, supervised by Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ashraf Omar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Chairman of the University Hospitals Board of Directors, Prof. Dr. Ali Al-Anwar, Executive Director of University Hospitals, and Prof. Dr. Samia Abdo, Deputy Executive Director of University Hospitals, concluded the activities of the training program for 8 students from 4 African countries in the field of neglected endemic diseases in Africa, namely Burundi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Malawi and Tanzania.

Which was held in the presence of Mr. SHINO Masao, representative of JICA office in Egypt.

Where the training program is held for the third year; In order to activate the tripartite agreement and the joint cooperation protocol between the Egyptian Agency for Partnership for Development - the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Faculty of Medicine of Ain Shams University and the Japan International Cooperation Agency-JICA entitled: -

This year, the training program was held remotely for three consecutive weeks, with 48 training hours, with the aim of preparing African cadres and training them in a distinguished and scientific manner by elite professors of the Faculty of Medicine, in addition to receiving practical training in the university hospitals affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University.

During his speech at the conclusion of the training program, Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, in joint and continuous cooperation with JICA and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in various fields, pointed out that the program that was launched in 2018 and was repeated in 2019 and 2022 reflects the great impact in deepening Egyptian-African relations and supports Egypt’s leading role in all countries of the continent, stressing that this program is not targeted for profit.

   
   

He added that the medical cadres at Ain Shams University were keen to implement an integrated program at the scientific and cultural level, which befits the position of the leading Egyptian state in the heart of the African continent.

On the most prominent aspects of cooperation, Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini stated that in 2020, a chest endoscope device was donated to Demerdash Hospital to contribute to the treatment of patients, especially those with Covid-19 and its variants.

Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini called for this cooperation to continue for a new term for another three years, in addition to expanding the partnership base in other fields.

In the speech of the representative of the trainee doctors from the four countries, he expressed his great gratitude to the Egyptian government, JICA Foundation and all the distinguished professors from the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University for this opportunity, which contributed to increasing their knowledge, hoping for more training and learning opportunities, especially from the doctors of Egypt, which is a country The ancient civilization, he also valued the role of the Egyptian woman, who radiates the glare of science and provides a role model in the whole world that has exceeded all expectations.
