The Supreme Council of Universities, headed by Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and the Secretariat of Dr. Muhammad Latif, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Universities, and the membership of university presidents, on the executive plans and programs presented by the vice presidents of universities for postgraduate studies, which aim to serve development issues and the challenges facing each region to which the university belongs geographically, in order to activate the role of universities in community service And in implementation of the assignments of the President of the Republic to the Supreme Council of Universities during his visit to Kafr Elsheikh University on December 14th.

The Minister stressed the importance of implementing the presidential directive to support the process of linking the scientific research system, and the related specialized research centers with the university education sector, and providing all facilities; To prepare innovative research and studies, in order to participate in the formulation of scientific solutions to the challenges facing Egyptian society, and development projects in all fields.

Dr. Adel Abdel Ghaffar, Media Adviser and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Higher Education stated that the Egyptian universities in the Greater Cairo Region (Cairo - Ain Shams - Helwan - Benha - Al-Azhar) presented a set of executive plans with specific time programs for studies and research that serve development issues and challenges facing the geographical region. The plans included various research points in various health fields, environmental, agricultural, and societal.

The spokesperson added that Cairo University presented a plan to study population increase and family planning (motives, determinants and obstacles), as well as a plan to support the health system in Giza Governorate, through Cairo University hospitals, and conduct research and studies on the emerging corona virus and provide isolation hospitals, in addition to conducting research and studies to develop Many areas of Giza in coordination with the governorate.

The official spokesman added that Ain Shams University submitted a plan to design a model for a zero-energy building on the university campus, as well as conducting an epidemiological study for the causes of infectious respiratory diseases, knowing the causative microbes with a genetic study for the most common, and creating a database to link them with clinical and social data. The university also presented a plan to prepare studying new membranes from plasma processing of agricultural waste; To purify well water and make new casings to protect the seeds.

While Helwan University presented a plan on factory waste and its impact on health and environmental pollution, through the participation of faculties (medicine, pharmacy, science, nursing, and applied arts), in addition to an executive plan on the problems of the population in slums (social, psychological, technical, and urbanization problems), with the participation of faculties (Social Service, Arts, Applied Arts, Fine Arts, and El-Matareya Engineering), the university also presented an executive plan on heritage in the Helwan region with the participation of faculties (Tourism and Hotels, Arts, Training and Education Center of Cultural Heritage).

Benha University also presented a number of studies on the decline in the productivity of some strategic crops for which Qalyubia governorate is famous, and the development of alternatives to the absence of a desert back for the governorate and its impact on urban expansion, as well as the inventory of vacant lands in the governorate and the preparation of a study to be used in an investment manner, and the re-planning and development of the Jazam area in the city of Khanka, In addition to studying the development of an integrated hygiene system to deal with and recycling waste, establishing a number of intermediate stations in the governorate, developing scientific solutions to the problem of coal cameras in a number of villages of the Toukh Center, developing scientific solutions to pollution resulting from some industrial clusters in some cities of Qalyubia Governorate, and studying the development of all service projects The governorate of Qalyubia, and also a study to legalize the conditions of 3,000 factories in the industrial area in the village of Al-Araksha in the city of Al-Khanka and the village of Bsous in Al-Qanater Al-Khairia.

Al-Azhar University also presented an executive plan related to the agriculture and food themes, represented by a national research and economic project for the sustainable development of palms, dates, honey, and beekeeping, and an executive plan related to the environment and energy axis, represented by a project of high-capacity capacitors to store electrical energy with recycling techniques and an environmentally friendly gas generation device as for the health, agriculture and sustainable development axis plan, it is represented in studying the therapeutic effects of fruitful plants and their industrial waste; To maximize development and economic benefit from it, the university also presented a plan around the axis of supporting innovation and entrepreneurship, and transfer and commercialization of technology, through the dissemination of a culture of entrepreneurial thought.
