A symposium at the Faculty of Girls under the title “Basics of Investigative Journalism in Egypt”

The Sociology Department, Media Division, Community Service and Environmental Development Sector, Faculty of Girls, Ain Shams University, organized a symposium entitled "The Basics of Investigative Journalism in Egypt", under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University, Prof. Dr. Hesham Tamraz, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Amira Youssef, Dean of the College of Women, Prof. Heba Adel, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Prof. Dr. Yasmina El-Sayed Mohamed, Head of the Sociology Department at the Faculty.

The seminar was delivered by Mr. Muhammad Ali Zaidan, a freelance investigative journalist who has been working in investigative investigations at Al-Watan newspaper since 2012 and has worked for many international and Arab press institutions, and documentary news channels, and has been working in the field of training since 2015 and has won many awards.

         
   
         

The symposium revolved around the definition of investigative journalism, the skills of an investigative journalist, and what distinguishes it from traditional journalism, the characteristics of both an investigative journalist and a reporter, the basics and methods of research in investigative journalism, and sources of access to open information through social networking sites (Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, as well as Introduce the students to some security applications, protection of personal information, and protection from intrusion.

Videos were shown of samples of the investigative investigations that he carried out, and the journalist trained the students on how to conduct a successful press dialogue with an important figure, starting with testing the questions, passing through the correct way of sitting in front of the guest, which expresses the personality of the announcer, the obstacles that occur during the dialogue and ways to overcome on her.

The seminar was attended by many students and faculty members of the college.

It is worth noting that the symposium was held amid the precautionary measures against the Corona virus.
