Papyrus in the ancient Egyptian civilization…A lecture at the Faculty of Archeology

Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University, Prof. Dr. Hesham Tamraz, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Prof. Dr. Mamdouh El-Damaty, Dean of the Faculty of Archeology, the Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs Sector at the Faculty of Archeology organized a lecture entitled "Papyrus in the Ancient Egyptian Civilization"

This comes within the activities of the Center for Papyrus Studies and Inscriptions, delivered by Prof. Fayza Heikal, Professor of Ancient Egyptian Archeology at the American University in Cairo, where she discussed the stages of papyrus cultivation and manufacture in the ancient Egyptian civilization.

         
   
         

She referred to its most important uses, which we have received with a mention of the most important ancient Egyptian papyri with an explanation of its most important characteristics and inscriptions, in the presence of a group of specialized professors, researchers, graduate and undergraduate students at the Faculty of Archeology.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Prof. Dr. Mamdouh Al-Damaty, Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Shawki, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research, and Prof. Dr. Noha Salem, Director of the Papyrlogical and Inscriptions Center honored Prof. Dr. Fayza Haikal was gifted the center’s shield due to her great scientific efforts and contributions in the field of Egyptology. Certificates of appreciation were also distributed to chairpersons and lecturers in the cultural season of the Center for Papyrus Studies and Inscriptions for the year 2021.
