The Faculty of Pharmacy celebrates World Pharmacist Day

Under the slogan Pharmacists Create the Future, the Faculty of Pharmacy, Ain Shams University celebrated the International Pharmacist Day in the presence of Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Dr. Hisham Tamraz, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Dr. Amani Osama, Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Ayman Al-Khatib, Vice President of the Medicines Authority, Major General Dr. Tarek Abdel Rahman, Vice President of the Unified Procurement Authority, Prof. Dr. Abdel Nasser Sengab, Vice President of Ain Shams University for Graduate Studies and Research Affairs and former Dean of the Faculty, and Prof. Dr. Maha Farouk, former Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Dr. Samer Al-Refai, Chairman of the Society’s Board of Directors, deans and agents of many faculties of pharmacy in public and private universities, a group of faculty staff, and a group of pharmacists from companies and hospitals, Dr. Sherif Amin, CEO of Novartis Oncology, Dr. Peter Makram Muhanna, President Global Nabi’s Board of Directors, Dr. Sherif Kamal, Director of 57357 Children’s Academy, Dr. Mohamed Adel Swailem, CEO of Viatris Egypt, Dr. Sami Khalil, CEO of Takeda, Dr. Amgd Talaat, General Manager of Eva Pharma, and a group of deans and professors of pharmacy faculties in various universities.

         
   
         

Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, indicated that the Faculty of Pharmacy got the best Faculty in the international classification of the university, stressing that the pharmacist is part of the health team, noting that all the agreements concluded by the university include training pharmacists along with doctors, His Excellency also praised the prominent role of pharmacists in Ain Shams University Hospitals during the Corona pandemic, pointing to the importance of expanding the exchange of experiences with everyone.

Prof. Dr. Hisham Tamraz spoke about on the role of the Faculty of Pharmacy in the various comprehensive development convoys organized by the university, pointing out that the university aspires with its great potential to the participation of various institutions, the industrial community and the business sector in an active role with the Faculty of Pharmacy.

Prof. Dr. Amani Osama, Dean of the Faculty, indicated that the goal of this day is to enhance the role of the pharmacist to improve health all over the world, noting that the Faculties of pharmacy in Egypt are very distinguished and include a distinguished elite of faculty members and graduates at the highest level, explaining that the Faculties of pharmacy were the first It is accredited by the Education Quality and Accreditation Authority.

         
   
         

She added that we have distinguished graduates in entrepreneurship, and in the field of research, while Prof. Dr. Amani Osama said that the highest research production at the level of Egyptian universities is from the faculties of pharmacy, which leads to raising the university rating, as the faculties of pharmacy in Ain Shams, Cairo and Alexandria universities rank 150th in the world, and the pharmacy sector receives a large share in various local and international awards.

She pointed out that the recent period witnessed the establishment of the Egyptian Medicines Authority and the Unified Procurement Authority with the aim of equitable access to a safe and effective drug for every individual and achieving sustainable development goals in the medicine of Egypt's Vision 2030. We also have local and international companies that manufacture medicine at the highest level, and the Egyptian Medicine City was established with the aim of Localization of the pharmaceutical industry, and despite these successes, there are some challenges, which are to promote the localization of the drug industry, increase exports of medicine and cosmetics and international accreditation of its production lines, in addition to uniting the pharmaceutical community as a whole to bridge the gap in various sectors and work as a team to bridge the gap between the academic, industry and healthcare.
