The start of the preparatory sessions for the World Design Studio between Africa and North America

Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar - Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ayman Ashour - Deputy Minister of Higher Education for University Affairs, and adopted by Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini - President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Dr. Abdel-Fattah Saoud - Vice President Ain Shams University for Education and Student Affairs, and the leadership of the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University, represented by Prof. Dr. Omar Al-Husseini - Dean of the Faculty and Prof. Dr. Mustafa Refaat, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, World Design Studio Management, the first preparatory sessions for the World Design Studio (WDS) were launched. For the academic year (2020-2021), the African continent is represented by the Department of Architecture - Faculty of Engineering - Ain Shams University, and the North American continent is represented by the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Coordination at Clemson University of America, and Asia is represented by the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Coordination, Chinese Huazeng University.

The first preparatory session of the World Design Studio (WDS) was held through the (video conference) technology, which represents the concept of digital transformation led by the Ministry of Higher Education and in the forefront of Ain Shams University, in the presence of a number of professors and students from the three universities.

This year, a group of carefully selected students will participate, including (40) students from the Faculty of Engineering - Ain Shams University, (10) students from Clemson University in the US, and (32) students from Huazeng University in China.

The World Design Studio - which is the first international experience of its kind - aims to integrate the participating students in providing sustainable architectural and environmental solutions to some of the problems facing urban development in a number of regions at the level of the countries participating in the project.

This year, the students of the World Design Studio (WDS) are studying ways to achieve sustainable development for the city of Sharm El Sheikh in the Governorate of South Sinai, and the strategic vision of the Arab Republic of Egypt in the Sinai Peninsula, so that the city of Sharm el-Sheikh becomes a world-class tourism, treatment and entertainment center.

The students of the Department of Architecture - Faculty of Engineering - Ain Shams University reviewed the strategic plan for the area, and made a detailed explanation of the nature of Sharm El Sheikh, its geographical location, the city's capabilities, the risks that threaten it, and the lands allocated for the implementation of the development plan in the city in accordance with the arrangements made between Prof. Dr. Khaled Abdel Al-Ghaffar - Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Major General Mr. Khaled Fouda - Governor of South Sinai, and a discussion session took place between professors and students with the aim of clarifying the basic axes and strategic frameworks of the project under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Yasser Mansour - Professor and Head of the Department of Architectural Engineering (formerly), and one of the founders World Design Studio - Faculty of Engineering - Ain Shams University.

The opening session of Clemson University was attended by Prof. Dr. Hala Nassar, who is one of the founders of the World Design Studio, on behalf of the Chinese Huazeng University, Dr. Zhao Jihong, and on the Ain Shams University, a group of professors and experts in the field of exhibition design and museum display such as Dr. / Nuran Khaled - member of the committee International Council of Museums, Archaeological and Historical Collections. It is noteworthy that the world Design Studio always uses the young men of the assisting body, including the engineer / Minah Tariq, the engineer Nada Ismail, the engineer Maria Nagy, and the engineer Noura Al-Amin, with the aim of strengthening their expertise in the fields of international cooperation, as part of the studio's sustainability system across generations. In this context, it is mentioned that several preparatory sessions were held in the presence of professors and students of the three participating universities.

It is worth noting that the World Design Studio has achieved remarkable success for its achievements over the past years, through the participation of students in many national projects in Cairo and Luxor, and international projects in the United States of America and China.
