In a Grand Ceremony…the Faculty of Law Celebrates a New Class of Graduates and Honors Counselor Hany Hanna, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs
Under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University; Prof. Amany Osama Kamel, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research; Prof. Rami Maher Ghali, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs; and Prof. Yassin El-Shazly, Dean of the Faculty of Law, the Faculty held a grand ceremony to celebrate the graduation of its 73rd class. The event took place in a festive atmosphere, attended by Prof. Mohamed El-Shafei, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs; Prof. Tarek Zaghloul, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research; Dr. Rashad Aboul-Enein, Lecturer in Economics and Public Finance and Coordinator of the Faculty's Alumni Association; along with senior university officials, faculty members, graduates, and their families.

The ceremony began with the Egyptian national anthem, followed by a recitation of verses from the Holy Quran. The graduates then made their entrance to enthusiastic applause and expressions of joy from their families and loved ones.
The celebration highlighted the faculty’s distinguished legacy spanning nearly seven and a half decades of leadership and excellence in legal education. It also showcased the comprehensive infrastructural and digital transformation underway at Ain Shams University under the leadership of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abidin, alongside the faculty’s academic development initiatives. These efforts include upgrading infrastructure, introducing advanced teaching facilities, establishing simulation and moot courtrooms, developing prestigious international partnerships, and securing accreditation for academic programs.
In a gesture of appreciation for its distinguished alumni, the faculty honored H.E. Counselor Hany Hanna, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and a member of the Class of 1975, in recognition of his distinguished career and contributions to public service and the judiciary.

For his part, Counselor Hany Hanna expressed his deep gratitude and pride in receiving this honor from his alma mater. He thanked the university and Faculty administrations, emphasizing that returning to this prestigious academic institution after more than 50 years of service in judiciary and public affairs was a moment of immense pride and personal significance.
In his address, Prof. Yassin El-Shazly, Dean of the Faculty, expressed his pride in the graduation of a new class from the faculty’s three academic divisions—Arabic, French, and English. He extended his heartfelt congratulations to the graduates and their families, describing parents as the "true partners" in their children's success and emphasizing their essential role as a constant source of encouragement, support, and motivation.
The Dean encouraged graduates to embark on a new chapter guided by knowledge, dedication, and integrity. He emphasized that serving justice and upholding the law are among the noblest responsibilities, given their fundamental role in maintaining security and strengthening trust within society. He also urged graduates to work diligently and remain committed to honesty and fairness.
Prof. El-Shazly stressed that the Faculty of Law's mission extends beyond classroom teaching to include conducting scientific research that serves society and developing postgraduate programs in cooperation with judicial and security institutions. These initiatives include launching a specialized master's degree program in collaboration with the Public Prosecution, while strengthening cooperation with the State Lawsuits Authority and the Police Academy.
Prof. El-Shazly also expressed his appreciation for international students from various Arab and African countries, including Sudan, Somalia, and Nigeria. He extended special greetings to Palestine and the Palestinian attendees, reaffirming that the Palestinian cause would always remain a central issue.
The Dean honored a distinguished group of prominent alumni, including H.E. Minister Hany Hanna, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs (Class of 1975); H.E. Ambassador Ahmed Khafagy, Egypt's Ambassador to the Republic of Iraq; and Senator Ahmed El-Hamamasy, Member of the Egyptian Senate (Class of 2009).
The honorees also included distinguished figures from the judiciary and judicial authorities, notably Counselor Ali El-Hawary, President of the Ismailia Court of Appeal (Class of 1978); Counselor Sami Zain El-Din, President of the Criminal Court (Class of 1980); Counselor Ahmed Hany, President of the Cairo Court of Appeal (Class of 1981); Counselor Rabie Kassem, Assistant Minister of Justice for Court Buildings and Real Estate Registration (Class of 1984); Counselor Ahmed Khalil, Vice President of the State Council and Head of the Technical Office of the General Assembly of the Advisory and Legislative Sections (Class of 1984); Counselor Tamer El-Fargany, Vice President of the Supreme Constitutional Court (Class of 1992); Counselor Yasser Hussein, President of the Court of Appeal and Director of Prosecutions at the Office of the Public Prosecutor (Class of 1992); and Counselor Ahmed Saad Abdel Aaty, Vice President of the State Lawsuits Authority and Head of the Center for Judicial Studies, Training, and International and Cultural Cooperation (Class of 1997).
The recognition extended to prominent figures from regulatory, military, security, and investment institutions, including Counselor Manal Khairy, Vice President of the Central Auditing Organization (Class of 1990); Counselor Sameh Abou Kenna, Vice President of the Central Auditing Organization (Class of 1991); Dr. Eman Mansour, Vice President of the General Authority for Investment (Class of 1991); Major General Ahmed Mohamed Zaki, Military Prosecutor General (Class of 1995); and Major General Karim Mohamed El-Sayed Mohamed, Deputy Director of the Fatwa and Legislation Department at the Military Judiciary Authority (Class of 1996).
The ceremony also recognized a distinguished group of senior lawyers and legal experts, including Dr. Gamal Abou Deif, Attorney before the Court of Cassation and Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Kemet Center for International Commercial Arbitration (Class of 1980); Dr. Abou Bakr El-Daw, Secretary-General of the Egyptian Bar Association (Class of 1987); Mr. Mohamed Othman, President of the North Cairo Bar Association and Legal Counsel to Al Ahly Sporting Club (Class of 1988); Mr. Shady El-Barqouky, former Senior Advocate General of East Cairo Prosecutions, Attorney before the Court of Cassation, and Founder of El-Barqouky Law Firm and Legal Consultancy; Mr. Othman Mowafy, Attorney before the Court of Cassation and Founding Partner of the international law firm ADSERO (Class of 1989); Dr. Khaled Hamdy Attia, International Lawyer and Partner at Al Tamimi & Company (Class of 1993); and Dr. Khaled Atrees, Head of the Legal Division at Banque Misr. The faculty also paid tribute to the memory of the late Counselor Osama Attaweya, former Assistant Minister of Justice.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, attendees enjoyed a musical performance by the Ain Shams University Faculty of Law Choir. Talented choir members performed a selection of songs that drew enthusiastic cheers and warm applause from the audience, providing a joyful finale that reflected the strong bonds among the faculty’s community and their pride in belonging to this prestigious institution.
The ceremony concluded with heartfelt congratulations to the graduates and their families, encouraging them to continue pursuing excellence and to uphold the principles of justice and the rule of law throughout their future professional careers.
