Ain Shams University Announces the Opening of Nominations for Its 2026 Individual Awards for Faculty Staff

Ain Shams University announces the opening of nominations for its 2026 Individual Awards, which recognize distinguished faculty staff and honor their scientific and academic contributions in the field of physics. The awards include the Prof. Karimat Mahmoud El-Sayed Award, the Prof. Hussein Abou Leila Award, and the Prof. Latifa El-Houty Award. The awards are held under the patronage of Prof. Amani Osama Kamel, Vice President of Ain Shams University for Postgraduate Studies and Research, as part of the University’s ongoing efforts to support scientific excellence and innovation and recognize outstanding contributions across various academic and research fields.

These awards reflect Ain Shams University’s commitment to motivating faculty staff, encouraging excellence in scientific research and innovation, and fostering a culture of constructive scientific competition, thereby supporting the University’s progress and strengthening its academic and research standing and leadership.

The awards are granted in accordance with the specific terms, regulations, and procedures established for each award, as follows:

First: Prof. Karimat Mahmoud El-Sayed Award

Award Field:
The award is granted for the best research paper in physics involving the study of the crystalline or molecular properties of materials.

Eligibility Requirements:

The award is granted to the principal researcher of the scientific paper, whether the paper is published individually or jointly with other researchers. In the case of joint research, the applicant must be listed as both the first and last author.

The applicant must be affiliated with a Physics Department at one of the University’s faculties: Science, Education, Women, or Computer and Information Sciences.

The applicant must hold the academic rank of Lecturer at the time of application.

Second: Prof. Hussein Abou Leila Award

Award Field:

The award is granted for the best research paper in physics by faculty staff from the University’s Faculties of Science, Women, Education, or Computer and Information Sciences.

Eligibility Requirements:

The award is granted for an individual research paper in the field of physics.

The applicant may be a co-author with other researchers, provided that the applicant is the only author specializing in the relevant field among all authors listed in the paper.

The applicant must hold the academic rank of Lecturer at the time of application.

Third: Prof. Latifa El-Houty Award

Award Field:

The award is granted for the best research paper in experimental physics by an Assistant Professor at a Physics Department in one of the University’s Faculties of Science, Women, Education, or Computer and Information Sciences.

Eligibility Requirements:

The award is granted for an individual research paper in experimental physics.

The applicant may be a co-author with other researchers, provided that the applicant is the only author specializing in the relevant field among all authors listed in the paper.

The applicant must hold the academic rank of Assistant Professor at the time of application.

Application Procedures for the University’s Individual Awards

Applications for the Prof. Karimat Mahmoud El-Sayed Award, Prof. Hussein Abou Leila Award, and Prof. Latifa El-Houty Award must include the following:

Proof of registration on the University Awards Database:

Submission of both a hard copy and an electronic copy of the published scientific paper.

Submission of a certified list of the researchers named in the paper, including their specializations and the role of each researcher.

An official letter from the faculty approving the nomination.

A recent University-certified employment status statement for the nominee, confirming that no disciplinary penalties have been imposed.

Personal photographs of the nominee.

A copy of the nominee’s national ID card.

The nominee’s contact details.

Deadline for Receiving Nominations: Thursday, December 17, 2026.

Nominations will officially close on December 31, 2026.
