As part of Ain Shams University’s commitment to supporting early-career researchers, developing their academic and research capabilities, and enhancing their access to international collaboration and funding opportunities, the Faculty of Law at Ain Shams University, in cooperation with the University’s Scholarship Welfare Office, organized a specialized workshop on scholarships, academic missions, and international academic and research opportunities, with the participation of a number of the Faculty’s teaching assistants.

The workshop was held under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Amany Osama Kamel, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research.

The event was attended by Prof. Yassin El-Shazly, Dean of the Faculty of Law, and Prof. Tarek Ahmed Maher Zaghloul, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research.

The workshop was delivered by Prof. Abdullah Samy, General Supervisor of the Scholarship Welfare Office at Ain Shams University, who addressed several topics related to international scholarships and academic missions, mechanisms for identifying suitable programs, and understanding application requirements and criteria. He also discussed the fundamentals of preparing strong academic and research application portfolios and provided practical guidance to help researchers prepare effectively for international programs.

Prof. Abdullah Sami emphasized the importance of raising researchers’ awareness of international scholarships and academic mission opportunities. He noted that making the most of these opportunities begins with systematically identifying programs aligned with each researcher’s specialization and academic path, understanding the requirements of each program, and preparing a comprehensive academic and research portfolio that effectively reflects the researcher’s capabilities and scholarly interests.

The workshop also highlighted the role of the Scholarship Welfare Office in providing support and guidance to researchers, introducing them to international academic and research opportunities, and helping them understand the pathways and procedures associated with scholarships and academic missions. These efforts support the University’s strategy to broaden international academic cooperation and expand educational and research opportunities for early-career researchers.

The workshop witnessed active engagement from the faculty’s teaching assistants, who raised several questions regarding scholarship and academic mission opportunities, application procedures, and how to select programs that best align with their specializations and academic paths, adding an interactive and practical dimension to the event.

The workshop comes as part of the Faculty of Law’s commitment to investing in the capabilities of early-career researchers, equipping them with the knowledge and tools needed to advance their academic careers, and encouraging greater engagement with international academic and research institutions and programs.

The workshop concluded with an extensive discussion session, during which participants’ questions were addressed and experiences related to scholarship and academic mission pathways were exchanged. The session also emphasized the importance of continuing to organize such awareness-raising activities, which contribute to fostering a culture of scholarships and academic missions, supporting researchers, and opening new international academic and research horizons for members of the Ain Shams University community.
