As part of Ain Shams University’s commitment to building effective partnerships with specialized national institutions, and under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, the University continues to implement its training and capacity-building programs in cooperation with the Military Academy for Postgraduate and Strategic Studies. These programs aim to strengthen national awareness, foster strategic thinking, and prepare university staff and leaders capable of efficiently addressing current and future changes and challenges.

This cooperation reflects Ain Shams University’s commitment to advancing its capacity-building framework and investing in human capital by providing specialized training programs that integrate leadership and administrative development, awareness of national issues, and strategic thinking. These efforts contribute to preparing university leaders with a comprehensive vision and enhanced capabilities in decision-making and managing challenges.

The University launched these programs with the “Pillars and Determinants of Egyptian National Security” program, implemented in cooperation with the Military Academy for Postgraduate and Strategic Studies over three days, with the participation of a distinguished group of instructors from the Academy.

The program aimed to enhance national awareness of the concept of Egyptian national security and its various dimensions, while providing participants with a deeper understanding of contemporary regional and international challenges and developments and their impact on national security. It also sought to foster strategic thinking and analytical skills and support the development of leaders capable of responding to modern changes within a comprehensive national vision.

The program featured two training sessions. The first, entitled “Pillars and Determinants of National Security,” was delivered by Brigadier General Dr. Haitham El-Tawagny, Advisor at the National Defense College. The session addressed the dimensions, pillars, and determinants of national security, the factors influencing it, its strategic spheres and determinants, as well as the fields, approaches, and means of achieving national security.

The second session, entitled “International and Regional Developments and Their Impact on Egyptian National Security,” was delivered by Major General Staff Dr. Mohamed El-Abed, Advisor at the National Defense College. He reviewed key international and regional developments and their implications for Egyptian national security, the challenges facing the Egyptian state as a result of these developments, and Egypt’s key strengths in addressing various changes and challenges.

As part of the University’s ongoing efforts to prepare and develop its leadership, the “Leadership and Management Skills” training program was also held for candidates nominated for the positions of vice deans of faculties and institutes, heads of departments, and directors of university units and centers. The program was held at the Innovation and Training Sector (IHUB) headquarters at Ain Shams University’s University Campus.

The program offered comprehensive training content covering a range of topics related to leadership and management, legal aspects of university administration, as well as etiquette, protocol, and ceremonial practices. The program was designed to hone participants’ skills and prepare them to undertake future leadership responsibilities with competence and professionalism.

The program began with its first training day, entitled “University Leadership in the Context of National and Regional Challenges,” delivered by Major General Staff Dr. Ibrahim Othman Helal, strategic expert and former Deputy Chairman of the National Defense Council. He addressed the most significant challenges and risks facing Egyptian national security, current and future risks confronting young people, and the role of universities, research centers, and experts in supporting strategic planning.

The second training day featured two sessions. The first, entitled “Legal Aspects of University Administration,” was delivered by Prof. Tarek Zaghloul, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law for Postgraduate Studies and Research at Ain Shams University. The second session, entitled “Management and Leadership,” was delivered by Prof. Nevine Assem, CEO of the Innovation and Training Sector at Ain Shams University, who presented a range of contemporary concepts and practices in management and leadership.

The program concluded on its third day with a session entitled “The Art of Etiquette, Protocol, and Ceremonial Practices,” delivered by Dr. Hossam El-Sherif, former Deputy Director of the Leadership Development Institute at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The session addressed key principles and skills related to etiquette, protocol, and ceremonial practices and their role in enhancing the professional image of leaders.

Through this cooperation, Ain Shams University underscores the importance of integration with national institutions and specialized expertise in strengthening its capacity-building framework and raising awareness among university staff and leaders, thereby enhancing their ability to understand evolving developments and address challenges within a comprehensive strategic vision.

These efforts form part of Ain Shams University’s strategy to invest in human capital and prepare future leaders, supporting sustainable institutional development and reinforcing the University’s role in human development and in preparing qualified professionals capable of contributing effectively to the development process and serving the nation.
