The summer training program for the Faculty of Engineering students, Ain Shams University, officially commenced at the University of East London (UEL) in the United Kingdom, with the participation of 27 students, including 20 from the Faculty of Engineering representing the Computer Engineering and Artificial Intelligence, Mechatronics Engineering, and Technological Engineering programs.

This initiative is under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Amr Shaat, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering.

The 10-day program, titled “Big Data and Cloud Transformations for Smart Cities,” is part of a series of international academic exchange programs and is organized by the School of Architecture, Computing and Engineering (ACE).

The first day of the program included a reception for the student delegation, followed by an opening address by Prof. David Tan, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology. In his address, Professor Tan welcomed the Egyptian students and emphasized the importance of international collaboration in developing engineering professionals capable of keeping pace with global technological advancements. The day also included a comprehensive tour of the university campus, during which the students were introduced to its facilities and learning environment.

The program, which runs for several days, includes specialized lectures, lab sessions, and practical applications focusing on big data technologies, cloud computing transformations, and their applications in smart city projects, along with opportunities to explore the academic and cultural heritage of the University of East London.

The program also features diverse cultural and social events, allowing students to learn about the history and heritage of both universities, reflecting the commitment of Ain Shams University and the University of East London to fostering academic cooperation, student exchange programs, and international education.
