In a new achievement that reflects the excellence of Ain Shams University students and the University's leadership in innovation and technology, students from the Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences secured first and second place at the IntelliShift Hackathon 2026 Finals, hosted by the Faculty of Computers and Artificial Intelligence at Cairo University, amid strong competition involving outstanding student teams from universities across Egypt.

This achievement comes as part of Ain Shams University's strategy, led by Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of the University, to foster innovation and entrepreneurship, encourage students to participate in scientific and technological competitions, and bridge academic education with industry and labor market needs. The initiative is closely supported by Prof. Rasha Mohamed Ismail, Dean of the Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences.

Team Aura won first place in the IoT & Smart Systems track after presenting an innovative AI-powered solution for supporting the diagnosis and monitoring of autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The project utilizes smart glasses equipped with a camera and microphone to analyze social interactions, while leveraging Machine Learning and Large Language Models (LLMs) to process speech and facial expressions. The system generates accurate clinical reports that assist physicians in evaluating patients while ensuring the highest standards of data privacy and security.

All team members are students in the Computer Systems Department. The team was supervised by Dr. Hafez Moawad, Lecturer at the Computer Systems Department, together with Teaching Assistants Seif El-Din and Mahmoud Youssef.

Meanwhile, Team Connect X secured second place in the Data Intelligence track for its project O JAMB, developed by Ahmed Hazem Taha and Baher Sherif Galal, third-year students in the Computer Science Department.

The project is an intelligent decision-support platform built on Data Intelligence and Business Intelligence technologies. It processes data through an ETL Pipeline, organizes it within an integrated relational database, and transforms it into interactive dashboards and key performance indicators (KPIs) that enable decision-makers to analyze performance and make more effective decisions.

The project also employs Symbolic AI to develop a Rule-Based Decision Engine, converting data insights into practical, actionable recommendations. This seamless integration of data engineering, artificial intelligence, and business applications earned high praise from the judging panel.

Team Connect X participated through the Faculty's student activities program under the academic supervision of Dr. Dina Khattab. Their participation reflects the faculty’s commitment to developing students' practical skills and encouraging them to compete in local and international hackathons and technology competitions.

This achievement further highlights the distinguished position of the Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences at Ain Shams University and its continued success in preparing highly qualified graduates equipped with the knowledge and skills required for innovation and global competitiveness.
