Ain Shams University continues its global rise and achieves new leaps in major global rankings

Ain Shams University continues to strengthen its position among leading global universities, achieving significant progress in several of the most prestigious international rankings, reflecting the clear success of its ambitious strategy to develop education, scientific research, and international engagement, under the leadership of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abidine, President of the University.

The US News Global Universities Ranking announced a major global leap for Ain Shams University, advancing by 67 places to rank 290th worldwide, compared to 357th last year. The university also moved up to 8th place in Africa, after ranking 10th previously, while maintaining its position among Egypt’s leading universities by ranking 4th nationally.

The university also continued its progress in the CWUR World Ranking, reaching 731st globally, advancing 9 positions from the previous year. This ranking is considered one of the most comprehensive worldwide, evaluating the performance of more than 20,000 universities and academic institutions globally.

In the QS World University Rankings, Ain Shams University maintained its distinguished position within the 551–560 global band, following an exceptional improvement last year of 50 places. This reflects the sustainability of institutional performance and the university’s ability to preserve its international competitiveness.

In this context, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abidine, President of Ain Shams University, emphasized that the university’s continuous progress in international rankings reflects the success of its strategic vision, which focuses on improving the quality of education, enhancing scientific research output, and expanding international cooperation and partnerships, thereby strengthening its position among the world’s top higher education institutions.

He added that these results reflect the integrated efforts of the university in developing its academic and research systems according to the highest global standards, through supporting researchers, promoting international scientific publishing, investing in human capital, and expanding digital transformation and innovation programs, all of which enhance the university’s competitiveness and its scientific and societal impact.

He further noted that Ain Shams University is steadily moving toward greater leadership and excellence in line with Egypt Vision 2030 and sustainable development goals, stressing that its progress in international rankings is no longer a temporary achievement but a clear indicator of its growing global academic standing and competitiveness.

Global university rankings are based on a set of indicators that measure academic and research performance and the international impact of educational institutions. These include academic reputation, employer reputation, research quality and citations, international outlook, faculty and student international ratios, as well as indicators related to employability, sustainability, and innovation.
