Prof. Tarek Zaghloul Appointed Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law for Postgraduate Studies and Research

Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, has issued a decision appointing Prof. Tarek Ahmed Maher Ahmed Zaghloul as Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law for Postgraduate Studies and Research, effective June 2, 2026, for a period of three years.

Prof. Tarek Ahmed Maher Ahmed Zaghloul is a professor and former Head of the Criminal Law Department at the Faculty of Law, Ain Shams University. He currently serves as a professor in the department and possesses a distinguished academic and administrative career at both the local and regional levels, with extensive expertise in university teaching, legislative drafting, and the development of academic and research systems.

Prof. Tarek Zaghloul graduated from the Faculty of Law, Ain Shams University, in 2001, ranking first in his class with a Very Good grade. He continued his academic excellence by obtaining diplomas in Criminal Law and Private Law, ranking first in both. He was awarded an internal scholarship for joint supervision with Jean Moulin Lyon 3 University in France. His academic journey culminated in earning a PhD in Law in 2010 with a Very Good grade with honors and a recommendation for thesis exchange and publication. His pioneering dissertation focused on the criminal liability of financial intermediaries in stock market transactions. He advanced rapidly through the academic ranks until attaining professorship in 2023.

He began his professional career as a Teaching Assistant at Ain Shams University in 2001 and progressed through the academic hierarchy until becoming Head of the Criminal Law Department (2024–2025).

During his career, he was seconded as an Assistant Professor to Al Buraimi University College in the Sultanate of Oman. He also spent an extended period (2015–2023) as an Associate Professor and Dean of Academic Affairs at the Emirates Academy for Identity and Citizenship in the United Arab Emirates. He is also an accredited evaluator by the National Qualifications Authority in Police Sciences in the UAE.

Prof. Zaghloul has an extensive record of books and published research covering modern and advanced topics, including criminal protection of intellectual property, cryptocurrency and money laundering crimes, artificial intelligence algorithms and predictive criminal justice, cybercrimes, and cyberbullying. He has supervised and participated in the examination of numerous Master’s and PhD theses in Egypt and across the Arab world and has presented papers at major international conferences on human rights, digital national security, law, and energy.

Prof. Tarek Zaghloul has also made significant contributions to procedural and legislative work. He is a member of the ministerial committee formed to draft a law addressing cybercrimes resulting from artificial intelligence. He has also been appointed as a legal investigator and advisor to disciplinary councils at several prestigious institutions, including Al-Ahram Canadian University, October 6 University, the Petroleum Research Institute, and the National Water Research Center. In addition, he chairs the Scientific Research Ethics Committee at the Faculty of Law, Ain Shams University.
