Under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, and the Vice Presidents of the University, students of the Confucius Institute and the Chinese Language Department participated in the finals of the 24th International Chinese Bridge Competition, where student Shada Mohamed Maher won first place and received the cup, a certificate of appreciation, and a prize presented by Haier Egypt, and student Mohamed Sameh El Hussein won second place and received the cup, a certificate of appreciation, and a prize presented by the same company.

Student Heba Mohamed Mahmoud also won the Encouragement Award. In the organizational category, the Confucius Institute at Ain Shams University won the Best Organization Award, while Ms. Ma Yongjing, Teaching Assistant Rania Saqr, Teaching Assistant Reem Sameh, and Ms. Sim Jit Lin won the Best Trainer Award.
Participating universities in the competition included Cairo University, Ain Shams University, Alexandria University, Suez Canal University, New Ismailia University, Fayoum University, Benha University, Port Said University, Suez University, Luxor University, Sadat Academy, Egyptian Chinese University, British University in Egypt, Pharos University, Horus University, Misr University for Science and Technology, Al-Ahram Canadian University, and the Higher Institute of Languages and Translation.
The prizes were distributed to the winners by Ambassador Liao Liqiang, the Chinese Ambassador to Cairo, Prof. Sherif Saleh, President of Port Said University, Prof. Nasser Abdel Aal, Director of the Confucius Institute at Ain Shams University, and Mr. Yang Linbing, Executive Director of Haier Egypt, the sponsor of the competition. The competition was organized by Mr. Minister-Counselor Lu Chunsheng, Director of the Education Office at the Chinese Embassy, Ms. Su Yanhe, President of the Chinese Bridge Language Club in Egypt, and Mr. Wang Xiaohai, the Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at Ain Shams.
The Confucius Institute at Ain Shams University organized the preliminary competition in the university's main conference hall last April. The competition began with a written exam for level six in Chinese, held in the halls of the Faculty of Al-Alsun. Each participant then presented a linguistic, cultural, and artistic performance on the stage of the university's conference hall.
The competition was attended by heads of Chinese language departments, a number of professors specializing in Chinese language studies, and students from Egyptian universities. The event was covered by Chinese media outlets.
