Ain Shams University activities to confront the Corona virus
Within the framework of Ain Shams University preparations to face the possible developments of the Corona virus, Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University assigned the university’s sectors to develop a plan to manage the situation in its various aspects.
The medical and environmental plan included increasing the awareness campaigns inside the university that started from the first of the second academic semester by increasing the number of medical teams specialized in awareness campaigns to 6 teams to spread health awareness among students, faculty members and university employees starting on Monday, 3/3/2020 in coordination Between the Hospital Infection Control Team, the General Administration for Medical Affairs team, the Ain Shams Hospital Specialized Infection Control Team, the Intensive Care Specialist and the chest, senders from the departments of the Faculty of Medicine to participate in the outreach with a timetable for the implementation of a number of seminars and workshops to raise awareness of all faculties And university institutes.
As well as the immediate contracting with companies specializing in sterilization working to apply the latest sterilization methods to purify all university facilities from classrooms, faculties, exam halls, administrative offices, and service locations in order to achieve the highest levels of safety for students, faculty, and university staff.
The plan also included a periodic review of the facilities of clinics and medical centers by providing all required medical supplies with a continuous follow-up to all consumables and their compensation.
Accordingly, a meeting was organized under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Abdel-Fattah Muhammad Saud (Vice President for Education and Student Affairs) and Prof. Dr. Nazmi Abdel Hamid (Vice President for Community Service and Environment Affairs) and faculty agents for community service and environmental development affairs in different faculties.
The mechanism for transferring and transferring suspected cases to an ambulance intended to transfer suspected cases was also confirmed, and all precautionary medical procedures were taken to disinfect the car after the cases were transferred, and then follow-up cases suspected of being performed by all necessary analyzes in the laboratories of the Ministry of Health, provided that the case is then transferred to hospital isolation Designated by the Ministry of Health after informing the Supreme Council of Universities.
Knowing that all the suspected cases that were dealt with, seized, and conducting all medical analyzes on them, their results were negative.
The plan also included the university's preparations in the event that it is necessary to suspend the study in some or all faculties due to any development of the current medical risks, and the crisis management committee was formed with the assignment of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University and headed by Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saud - Vice President for University Affairs Education and students, and membership of Prof. Dr. Mona Abdel-Al - Executive Director of the Department of Education Development, Prof. Islam Hijazi - Director of the University's Information Network at CIO, Prof. Yasser Al-Jabarti - Director of the University's E-Learning Center, and Dr. Ahmed Samir Bakr - Deputy of the E-Learning Center, Faculty of Medicine.
The committee held on Monday 9/3/2020 and concluded the necessity of "shifting from traditional learning to distance learning for the remainder of the academic year" through proactive procedures that contain a basic plan and other alternative to face the crisis so that the student can follow the lectures and interact with members of the body Teaching and students amongst each other, in addition to reviewing and delivering the required assignments and following up on the developments announced through the use of e-learning management systems and virtual classes.
The committee also established a business continuity plan in the event of a crisis, which would assess the situation, study the available alternatives and recommend the most appropriate alternative and submit the matter to the university president for decision-making. Accordingly, the faculties and the concerned authorities are advised to activate to start implementing the plan and direct students and faculty to the alternative path through the mail Official electronic and various means of communication.
