Ain Shams University receives thousands of international students from various nationalities and countries, due to the distinguished services it provides, which help international students achieve the goals they aspire to. In this regard, Dr. Abdel Aziz Mahmoud, Director of the International Students Care Unit (ISCU) at Ain Shams University, explained the most important services offered to international students at the university, announcing an international conference dedicated to them, which is being organized for the first time at the university.
The unit is preparing to organize the first annual international conference of the International Students Care Unit (ISCU) at Ain Shams University, under the patronage of Prof. Abdel Wahab Ezzat, President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Abdel Nasser Sengab, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research.
The conference aims to implement the university’s strategic plan by providing all forms of care for international students from various countries, as well as facilitating communication with them, in cooperation with relevant entities such as their embassies and consulates in Egypt, and the Central Administration for International Students at the Ministry of Higher Education.
Dr. Abdel Aziz also indicated that ambassadors and diplomats will be invited to attend the conference, which will be held at the end of next October.
He added that during the conference, international students—both undergraduate and postgraduate across different departments and faculties, including new students, will be introduced to the services provided by Ain Shams University.
Dr. Abdel Aziz explained that the ISCU will also organize free workshops for international students, especially postgraduate students who often seek such workshops to complete the requirements for their master’s and PhD thesis defenses. These workshops will cover general fields and will be available to all students.
He also noted that the conference program will include introducing the new and distinguished programs offered by Ain Shams University, which are unique and set it apart from other universities. These programs have been announced in recent periods, and international students will be informed about their advantages and how they can benefit from them.
He pointed out that a guide to service locations within the university campus will also be provided to make it easier for students to access and benefit from these services.
Regarding communication between the unit and international students, and responding to their questions and inquiries, Dr. Abdel Aziz explained that the International Students Care Unit (ISCU) welcomes all questions, inquiries, and suggestions at its headquarters in the Pharaonic Building in the university city, as well as through the unit’s page on the university website—which is currently being developed—and its social media pages. This aims to ensure faster and more effective communication with international students in the coming period.
In addition, the ISCU provides integrated training programs for administrative staff working in international student affairs at the university, based on principles of administrative psychology.
As for the number of international students at Ain Shams University, it has reached 6,700 undergraduate and postgraduate students. He noted that the university’s strategic plan includes increasing this number in line with the university’s capabilities, adding that the unit will present a plan specifying the number of international students each faculty can accommodate.
