Program Advantages

The strategic plan of the Faculty of Al-Alsun aims to establish the faculty as a distinguished research center that promotes collaboration between its researchers and educational institutions, research centers, and civil society organizations at local, regional, and international levels.

Accordingly, postgraduate programs aim to support research in rare and specialized fields by developing innovative academic areas, including teaching Western and Eastern languages with an Arab intellectual and civilizational perspective that emphasizes human universality and the richness of human experience. This includes interest in both classical and modern Arabic literature, as well as Western writings about the East, with the aim of strengthening cultural identity.

Translation activity is a core element in shaping the identity of the Faculty of Al-Alsun due to its vital role in cultural communication. Therefore, the faculty seeks to strengthen its position in the Arab world in translation and comparative literature by preparing postgraduate students in translation practice and theory and its interdisciplinary relationship with linguistics, cultural studies, and comparative literature.

Skills Acquired by Graduates

The faculty encourages translators to engage in translation practice aimed primarily at transferring major literary and intellectual works from Arab culture into foreign languages taught at the faculty. The faculty awards Master’s and PhD degrees in translation (Arabic and vice versa), covering key intellectual, literary, and cultural movements that shaped Egyptian, Arab, and international awareness.

Due to the importance of translated works, the faculty may cooperate with specialized translation centers for publication, provided that translations are reviewed and edited for accuracy and quality.

Translation work is not limited to individual academic production but also includes encouraging collective translation projects carried out by faculty departments on specific topics or encyclopedic works. It also promotes the development of multilingual dictionaries, contributing to the faculty’s cultural presence in Arab and global contexts.
