The first steps of joint scientific cooperation between the Medical Research Center in Medicine and the Center for Genetic Research in Zewail City

Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Al-Metainy, President of the University witnessed the celebration of the Faculty of Medicine to activate the first steps of cooperation between the Medical Research Center in the Faculty and the Center for Genetic Research in Zewail City in the presence of Acting Dean of the Faculty and Director of the Clinical Research Unit.

Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metainy, President of Ain Shams University witnessed the celebration of the Faculty of Medicine to activate the first steps of cooperation between the Medical Research Center in Ain Shams Medicine and the Center for Genetic Research in Zewail City. It was in the presence of Prof. Dr. Ashraf Omar Acting Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Sherif El-Khamisy, Center for Genetic Research, Zewail University, Dr. Manal Hamdy El-Sayed, Director at Clinical Research Unit, Medical Research Center, Dr. Shahira Samir, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development Prof. Dr. Osama Mansour Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research Sarah Hassan Consultant of Medical Analysis and Genetics at the Medical Research Center and a group of faculty professors.

Prof.Dr. Mahmoud Al-Metainy affirmed his full support for the requirements and needs of scientific research and the development of research in all fields. He pointed to the importance of teamwork and concerted efforts to develop research, which is done by the University through the establishment of many partnerships and cooperation protocols to create a suitable climate for researchers and provide the latest types of scientific research inside Egypt. He also directed young researchers to the need to benefit from modern research grants and ongoing local and international partnerships that make them more fortunate than previous generations.

Prof. Dr. Ashraf Omar added that there is no globally successful scientific research carried out by a single party, regardless of its development, it is known globally the importance of partnerships and work within a joint research team between different bodies or countries to serve humanity.

Then Prof. Dr. Sherif El-Khamisi reviewed the history of Zewail City and the strategies of scientific research in the city aiming to reach scientific research inside Egypt to a level equivalent to international scientific research.

He also pointed to some of the challenges facing scientific research, including finance and environment.

Then, Manal Hamdi dealt with scientific research efforts in the fight against liver disease and virus C and liver cancer and facts and statistics.

Prof. Dr. Manal said that this day is the nucleus of a fruitful and joint cooperation memorandum and the importance of discussing existing scientific researches at Zewail University and the role of national programs in pushing forward scientific research in various fields, especially different cancers, modern drugs and immunotherapy and its role in eliminating some types of cancer and modern devices to map the treatment of patients depending on the genetic makeup of each individual.

Prof. Dr. Sarah Hassan pointed out that the cooperation between the Medical Research Center in Ain Shams Medicine headed by Prof. Hesham El-Ghazaly, Professor of Oncology and Genetic Research Center in Zewail, a large cooperation covering the field of education, training, study and international publishing and exchange of experiences inside and outside Egypt in the field of genetics research in the Egyptian patient in particular and in the fight against many diseases, including cancer, liver disease and heart disease, which has begun the first steps in partnership in four research projects in cardiology and oncology.

It also included a number of scientific lectures that dealt with the breakdown and synthesis of the human gene and immunotherapy as a new method in the treatment of tumors and modern research opportunities under study to improve the protocols of immunotherapy for cancer and criteria for patient selection for treatment and the latest scientific innovations and how to apply and opportunities for scientific research in Egypt.
