The Anti-Violence and Harassment Unit organizes a workshop for specialists and supervisors in the University City

The Anti-Violence and Harassment Unit at Ain Shams University organized an introductory symposium and a workshop for specialists and supervisors at the University City in Benin, under the auspices of Prof. And the development of the environment, the symposium comes as a continuation of the services, introductory seminars and activities carried out by the Anti-Violence and Harassment Unit, and in support of the university administration for the students of the university through the unit by disseminating the goals, strategies and how to protect, and clarifying the ways provided by the university to create a safe environment for its students.

         
   
         

Dr. Hind El-Helaly, director of the unit, began her speech by thanking the education sector and students, and those in charge of the university cities administration for receiving the unit for the second time (in the university city for boys), for cooperating with the unit in rehabilitating the specialists and supervisors entrusted with dealing with male and female students to provide them with the necessary skills for how to receive cases that may be exposed to violence Or bullying or harassment, clarifying communication and listening skills, explaining how to calm down and manage the situation until it reaches the unit to receive the complaint, and complete the procedures until it reaches its right, with the support of the leaders represented in the university president and deputies.

Dr. Hind also discussed the role played by the National Council for Women in supporting girls outside the university walls, and what are the methods she uses through the channels of communication between the unit and the council regarding the exposure of a female student to violence outside the university walls.

During the symposium, the unit’s consultants introduced the objectives and services provided by the unit’s advisory committees, such as the Entrepreneurship Committee, the Psychological Support Committee, the Legal Conditions Committee, the Psychological and Physical Capacity and Skills Development Committee, and the People with Disabilities Committee.

         
   
         

Prof. Dr. Abdul-Wahhab Gouda explained the social methods pursued by the unit in how to manage and deal with the case, and the questionnaire methods for the validity of the invitation.

Dr. Hoda Helal, Director of the Green Transformation Unit, discussed the services and workshops on how to conduct a feasibility study and how small and micro projects work, and the role of the Green Transformation Unit in cooperation with the Anti-Violence Unit in organizing workshops on how to recycle waste.

Dr. Eman El-Gamil, a professor of criminal law, also clarified the legal frameworks governing women's issues in the Egyptian constitution and law.

She also clarified the legal frameworks through which the unit operates within the university under the umbrella of the Universities Organization Law.

Dr. Fayrouz Mahmoud explained the importance of volunteering, pointing to the role that the unit plays in encouraging male and female students, especially female students, to integrate into volunteer work, to overcome negative feelings or pressures that girls are exposed to.

Dr. Amani Abdel Aal talked about how to elicit positive feelings and self-power in overcoming crises and overcoming negative feelings and feelings of anger that may result from exposure to violence, whether outside the university walls or inside the university walls.

The symposium concluded with a workshop for the Anti-Violence and Harassment Unit to develop the capabilities of supervisors and specialists in dealing with cases, and how to listen and manage the case until it reaches the unit to take the necessary action. The training was conducted by Dr. Amani Abdel Aal, a clinical psychologist and a training consultant.
