UNESCO and Ain Shams University organize a capacity building workshop

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Chairman with the Egyptian National Commission for UNESCO, reviewed a report submitted by Dr. Ghada Abdel Bary, Secretary-General of the National Committee, on the organization of a workshop entitled “Building the capacity of officials to follow up on the implementation of the fourth goal of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG4)”, which is concerned with ensuring the provision of quality and inclusive education for all, and promoting lifelong learning opportunities, in cooperation with the UNESCO Regional Office in Cairo, and the Center Educational Excellence at the Faculty of Education, Ain Shams University, during the month of October, at the center's headquarters.

The report indicated that the aim of the workshop is to raise the participation of the public and private sectors from all ministries; To improve the quality of the educational system, in line with modern global systems, and to develop a clear strategy; To monitor and measure indicators of the fourth goal of the sustainable development goals, enhance lifelong learning opportunities, as well as support basic values ​​and skills for students, and gender equality, as well as develop assessment methods to focus on capacity development rather than information acquisition, and raise awareness of the importance of early childhood health care and education before primary.

   
   

The report stated that this workshop comes within the framework of activating the cooperation protocol between Ain Shams University and the National Committee for UNESCO. The workshop included seven sessions; To discuss work plans and how to implement them, evaluate, follow up and review performance periodically, in addition to resisting change and how to deal with it, clarifying the difference between leadership and management, and maintaining the improvement of the business continuity system, as well as ensuring that the announced policies for business continuity are matched with review and follow-up, and setting the frame of reference for the quality Schools, while identifying the advantages of the educational institutions management system, as well as identifying the mechanisms for adopting partnership as a vision to achieve the fourth goal of the sustainable development goals.

The workshop concluded with a number of recommendations, the most important of which are: raising awareness among officials of the importance of providing data to all education stakeholders and sending them on time, building the capacities of data senders in the authorities responsible for education who deal directly with the fourth goal officials, in addition to establishing a sustainable development unit in the educational authorities With the designation of a coordinator to deal with a member of the Fourth Goal Indicators Committee, and a monthly meeting to raise capacity and transfer data in partnership with relevant ministries and bodies, and to seek the assistance of international experts.

The workshop activities were witnessed by Dr. Maged Negm, former president of Helwan University, and head of the Fourth Goal Committee, Dr. Bishr Imam, Acting Director of the UNESCO Regional Office in Cairo, Dr. Hazem Rashid, Dean of the Faculty of Education, Ain Shams University, Dr. Rasha Kamal, Head of the Central Administration for Expatriates at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Director of the Educational Excellence Center at Ain Shams University, in addition to the participation of a number of professors, specialists, researchers and academics, members of the Fourth Goal Committee, representatives of the Ministries of Education, Higher Education, Social Solidarity, Planning and Economic Development, as well as Representatives of Al-Azhar University, Azhar institutes sector, the Adult Education Authority, and the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics.
