The conclusion of the activities of "United Nations and Addressing Middle East Issues" conference at the Middle East Research Center

The activities of the second day of the International Scientific Conference "The United Nations and Middle East Issues" were held, on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of its establishment, which is being held with video conference. The program of the second day of the conference included two sessions, one of which included a research entitled "The United Nations and the Iraq-Iran War”

A number of professors and researchers participated in the session: Dr. Hesham Muhammad Bashir, Assistant Professor of International Relations and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Politics and Economics at the University of Beni Suef, presented a paper entitled "The Role of the United Nations Organization in the Protection of Syrian Refugees", and Dr. Amani Salah El-Din Soliman, Assistant Professor of Modern and Contemporary History at the Institute of Mediterranean Studies, Faculty of Arts, Alexandria University, and she reviewed a paper entitled "The United Nations and the Iraq-Iran War (From Mediation to Peacekeeping Mission (1989-1980)", and Dr. Abdullah Abdul Karim Ali Ahmed Hasel He has a PhD in International Law and presented a paper entitled "The Role of United Nations Peacekeeping Missions in the Middle East", and the researcher Rania Muhammad Abdel Hamid Anani, a PhD researcher in public international law at the Faculty of Law, Ain Shams University presented a paper entitled "Development of the United Nations System for Peace Operations and Non-State Actors." Hosnia Muhammad Shadli, a PhD researcher in public international law at the Faculty of Law, Ain Shams University, presented a research entitled "The Role of Women in Peacekeeping and Security Operations in the Middle East Region."

After the researchers finished reviewing their research papers, Prof. Mohamed Abdel-Wahab, the chairperson of the session, discussed the presented research and commented on it. He also listened to the inquiries of the attendees and the researchers responded to them in a fruitful discussion session.

This was followed by the start of the proceedings of the fourth and final session of the conference activities. The session was moderated by Prof. Dr. Fleifel, Professor of Modern and Contemporary History and Former Dean of the Faculty of African Studies and a former Member of Parliament. The session included a distinguished group of researchers: Prof. Muhammad Abd al-Salam Hussein, Head of the Geography Department at the Faculty of Education, Ain Shams University and Head of the Land, Natural Resources and Space Division at the Center. He presented a paper entitled "International Information and Statistical Technologies of the United Nations in Application to the FAO".

At the end of the session, discussion was opened to the attendees, who raised their inquiries to the researchers, who in turn responded to them and discussed a number of questions with the comment of the session chairperson, Prof. Dr. Elsayed. Fleifel.

The international scientific conference "The United Nations and Addressing Middle East Issues" resulted in a large and important set of recommendations and proposals that researchers addressed in their research papers aimed at solving a number of current economic, social and political problems in the region and how to urge the United Nations to play a more effective role in solving difficulties and challenges. The situation facing the Middle East region, especially the Arab countries, through its various organizations, programs, and various developmental and economic initiatives in cooperation with the member states.

At the end of the conference, Prof. Dr. Ashraf Mu'nis, Director of the Center and General Rapporteur of the conference, extending his sincere thanks and appreciation to Prof. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University and Prof. Dr. Hisham Tamraz, Vice President of Community Affairs and Environmental Development, and Chairman of the Center’s Board of Directors for their sponsorship of such an important cultural event, also thanked the researchers who enriched the conference with their valuable research and recommendations that made the conference more prominent and contributed to achieving its desired goals.

Dr. Ashraf also thanked the staff of the center in charge of holding this conference for their efforts for the success of the conference and its exit in this honorable way.
