The activities of annual scientific conference of the Department of Pharmacognosy at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Ain Shams University, were launched under the title "Immunology: The Role of Nature in Immune System Health." The conference was held under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Rehab Othman, Acting Dean of the Faculty.
The conference was opened by Prof. Omaima Abdel Karim Al-Dahshan, Head of the Department of Pharmacognosy. Prof. Abdel Nasser Sengab, Professor of Pharmacognosy, Head of the Drug Discovery Research and Development Center, and Head of the Pharmaceutical Studies Sector at the Supreme Council of Universities, delivered the opening remarks. He emphasized the importance of scientific research in developing methods to support immune system health by utilizing natural resources.

The conference featured a series of scientific lectures presented by a group of prominent professors. Prof. Samir Othman, Professor of Pharmacognosy and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at October 6 University, gave a lecture titled "Herbal Medicine: A Natural Approach to Treating Immune Diseases and Mitigating the Effects of Traditional Treatment." He highlighted the benefits of medicinal herbs and their complementary role in treating immune diseases.
Prof. Sherif Ebada, Professor of Pharmacognosy at the Faculty of Pharmacy, at Ain Shams University, also gave a lecture on "Therapeutic Nutritional Products in Autoimmune Skin Disorders," reviewing the latest research in this field.
The scientific sessions concluded with a lecture by Dr. Arej Rushdi, Lecturer of Medical Microbiology and Immunology at the Faculty of Medicine for Girls, Al-Azhar University, titled "The Role of Natural Products in Strengthening the Immune System." She discussed the most important supplements and natural extracts used to support immune function.
The conference provided students with a valuable opportunity to discuss their opinions and suggestions regarding the development of the department's curricula, as part of enhancing the role of students in the educational process.

The event also featured a showcase of the Department of Pharmacognosy's achievements during the 2024/2025 academic year, along with the announcement of the winner of the Prof. Abdel Nasser Sinjab Award for Best Scientific Research Extracted from a Master's or Doctoral Thesis, which was awarded to Dr. Nesma Khaled.
The conference also included honoring outstanding students in practical activities for the second semester of the 2025 academic year, in addition to honoring students who achieved the highest grades in the first semester exams, and students who achieved the final grade in the midterm exams for the second semester of the 2024/2025 academic year.
