Prof. Maha Nasr Sayed, Professor of Pharmaceutics and Industrial Pharmacy at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Ain Shams University, is one of the most prominent Egyptian and Arab researchers in the field of nanotechnology and drug delivery. She has dedicated her research career to developing applications of nanoparticles in treating numerous diseases, achieving scientific breakthroughs that have garnered her many local, regional, and international awards.

Academic and Scientific Career

Dr. Maha Nasr graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy at Ain Shams University in 2003 and received her PhD in Pharmaceutics from the same university in 2012. She was sent on a postdoctoral research mission to Leiden University in the Netherlands in 2013, and in 2015 she received funding from the British Academy of Medical Sciences to work as a visiting professor at the University of Bradford in the United Kingdom.

Advanced Research in Nanotechnology and Drug Delivery

Her research has focused on the use of nanoparticles in treating various diseases, particularly neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's, as well as the clinical applications of nanotechnology in treating androgenic alopecia. She has also conducted several locally and internationally funded research projects in the fields of drug delivery and modern pharmaceutical technologies.

Dr. Maha Nasr has published over 100 international scientific papers in prestigious journals. She has also participated as a speaker at numerous international scientific conferences and contributed to supporting scientific research through her membership in several international scientific bodies and academies.

• The State Award for Excellence in 2023.

• The State Incentive Award in Advanced Technological Sciences Serving Medical Sciences in 2017.

• The COMSTECH Award for Best Research in Biological Sciences for research on the use of nanoparticles to treat neurodegenerative diseases.

•The ACDIMA Award for Best Applied Research in 2018 for clinical applications of nanoparticles in the treatment of androgenic alopecia.

•The Shawqi Al-Haddad Cancer Research Award, 2018.

•The Obada International Prize for Outstanding Researchers Under 40, 2019.

•The Kwame Nkrumah Award for Scientific Excellence in Life Sciences for North Africa, 2019.

She has received numerous research grants and funding from international institutions, including the FEP (Foundation for Education and Research) in the Netherlands, the National Academy of Sciences and the National Institutes of Health in the United States, and the Robert Bosch Foundation in Germany.

In terms of international scientific recognition, she has been ranked among the top 2% of scientists worldwide by Stanford University for several consecutive years. She was also selected as a Fellow in the Next Einstein Program and honored by the President of Rwanda.
