Graduate Competencies

Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will be able to:

•Understand cities as social-ecological systems, including their non-linear and non-deterministic behavior, urban metabolism, and the spatial requirements necessary for sustainable urban development.

•Analyze the complex interrelationships among urban systems and sectors, including building construction and energy, water supply, wastewater treatment, governance structures, and resource-efficiency strategies.

•Evaluate product supply chains, material cycles, and resource-demand systems, including water, energy, mobility, food supply, and urban design, while assessing the potential for local natural resource generation within urban environments.

•Conduct advanced interdisciplinary research, integrate specialized knowledge, utilize smart technologies and modeling techniques, and develop innovative multidisciplinary solutions to address urban environmental challenges.

•Communicate effectively with both specialist and non-specialist audiences through professional written and oral communication.
