The Scholarship Welfare Office announces the announcement of higher education regarding the opening of the door to apply for competitive scholarships from China for the year 2023/2024

Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, reviewed a report submitted by Dr. Ashraf Al-Azazy, Head of the Cultural Affairs and Scholarships Sector, on scholarships offered by the People's Republic of China, for the academic year 2023/2024.

The report indicated that China provided a number of competitive scholarships according to the executive program. This is to obtain master’s and doctoral degrees in the following scientific disciplines: (computer science and artificial intelligence – building communication and information networks – cybersecurity – marine engineering sciences – mechanical engineering – electrical engineering – industrial engineering – physical therapy – Chinese language and literature), as well as specializations that serve The country's sustainable development goals (Egypt Vision 2030).

The report indicated that the conditions for applying for these scholarships include: the age of the applicant should not exceed 30 years for a master’s degree, and 33 years for a doctorate at the date of the start of the announcement, and the period of registration of the applicant should not exceed one year from the date of the start of the announcement if he is registered for a master’s degree, and the period of registration should not exceed 18 months. If the applicant has registered the subject of a doctoral thesis, according to the approval of the Executive Committee for Scholarships in the 6/5/2021 session, and in the event that he is not restricted to a doctoral degree, the period for obtaining a master’s degree must not exceed two years from the date of the start of the announcement.

The report stated that the Chinese side is committed to providing Egyptian students with a monthly scholarship estimated at 3,000 Chinese yuan for master's students, and 3,500 Chinese yuan for doctoral students, in addition to exempting them from registration fees, annual registration fees for attending lectures and studies, costs for specific study materials, and prescribed accommodation expenses, as well as about providing free medical treatment for Egyptian students who have obtained doctoral scholarships from the Chinese government, and the scholarship does not include round-trip travel expenses.

The scholarships also bear (while not borne by another party) the completion of the value of the grant provided by the Chinese side, according to the executive program, as well as round-trip tickets, according to the financial regulations of the scholarships, and the scholarships do not bear any expenses for the family.

The report confirmed that it will not consider papers submitted by e-mail, and that the deadline for applying for these scholarships is to hand over the paper file to the central administration of scholarships on Sunday, 22/1/2023, noting that the central administration of scholarships does not bear any expenses for these grants.

On the other hand, China has announced a number of competitive scholarships offered for bachelor's degrees outside the executive program for the academic year 2023/2024, in the following areas: (computer science and artificial intelligence - building communication and information networks - cybersecurity - marine engineering sciences - mechanical engineering - engineering Electrical - Industrial Engineering - Physiotherapy - Chinese language and literature), in addition to specializations that serve the country's sustainable development goals (Egypt's Vision 2030) and without expenditures from scholarships.

The report indicated that it is required to apply for the scholarship: the age should not be more than 21 years, and not less than 18 years from the date of the start of the announcement, and the date of obtaining the high school certificate or its equivalent should not exceed two previous years (2020/2021-2021/2022).

The report indicated that the Chinese side is committed to providing a monthly scholarship to Egyptian students estimated at 2,500 Chinese yuan, and the scholarship does not include round-trip travel expenses.
