Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, met with representatives of Telecom Egypt, Microsoft, and EDUSOFX to discuss launching the first institutional educational experience powered by the latest artificial intelligence technologies. The initiative aims to create a personalized learning experience tailored to each student’s academic level and skill set, marking a new phase in advancing the educational system by bridging academic study with labor market demands.

The meeting was also attended by Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Rami Maher Ghali, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs; and Prof. Farid Mohram El-Garhy, Dean of the Faculty of Business.
Discussions focused on developing a comprehensive strategy for the university to adopt the smart educational assistant system “Learning Buddy” by 2026. The system relies on advanced AI algorithms to enhance the educational process by providing round-the-clock academic support to students, reducing administrative burdens on faculty members, and accelerating the university’s digital transformation.

Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen emphasized that the university is moving forward with an ambitious strategy to reshape the academic experience through the adoption of advanced AI technologies. He noted that the Learning Buddy project represents a qualitative leap in supporting students and enhancing institutional performance, stressing that collaboration with leading entities goes beyond digitizing curricula to building an integrated, proactive, and sustainable educational ecosystem. He added that the university aims to create a smart academic environment that fosters innovation and allows faculty members greater space for research creativity by reducing traditional workloads, positioning Ain Shams University as a regional hub for digital excellence aligned with international standards and global trends.
Eng. Tamer El-Mahdi, CEO of Telecom Egypt, affirmed that the partnership aligns with a comprehensive vision to deliver innovative technological solutions to challenges facing the education sector, ensuring smoother academic and administrative performance. He highlighted that the ultimate goal is to prepare graduates capable of meeting global labor market demands, noting the Ministry of Communications’ strong focus on developing human capacities in digital and technological fields. He also explained that initial steps will involve intensive research and precise assessment of the university’s needs to provide tailored solutions that transform current challenges into opportunities supporting comprehensive digital transformation.
Eng. Mohamed Qassem, General Manager of Microsoft Egypt, expressed his pride in this initiative, describing it as a model that reflects the leadership of Egyptian universities in delivering advanced learning experiences that could serve as a benchmark for institutions across the region. He added that the project aligns with Egypt’s national strategy to advance education while ensuring proper governance of AI tools under expert supervision and institutional oversight, alongside nurturing students’ talents and capabilities.
In the same context, Eng. Hatem Sallam, Founder and CEO of EduSofx, highlighted the pivotal role AI will play in shaping the future of education at the university, noting that EduSofx is leveraging its full technical expertise through the Learning Buddy system to create an interactive environment that goes beyond traditional approaches.
Prof. Farid Mohram, Dean of the Faculty of Business, underscored the importance of strategic collaboration with leading technology companies, noting that this coordination aims to provide specialized training programs and scholarships for students in data science and artificial intelligence. This will enhance their digital skills in line with international standards and grant access to advanced learning platforms and smart labs, ultimately transforming traditional business thinking into a technology-driven mindset capable of efficiently managing the digital economy. He emphasized that the faculty is fully committed, in cooperation with state institutions, to supporting Egypt’s digital vision and empowering graduates to lead in the labor market.
